OT. New to Netflixs and Prime. Need some recommendations

I was thinking more about the fire than the halo, but that makes sense.

The fire was the angle Netflix took with the incident. Probably because that’s an easier on the stomach way to draw it out than discussing the possibility of decapitation.

I never read through these long threads. Usually just look at the first page and then skip to next to last page.
I see this recommendation for Straight Man. Russo is one of my favorite authors; I'd love to see the movie. Go to Netflix and amazon, search for straight man and all I find is a bunch of gay porn.
Grrrr.....

Finally realize that yinz were talking about the book!

In a streaming thread

Grr...

Worst thing is that gay porn films are now coming up on my "movies you'd like"

There's no porn on my Netflix. Is there a secret cheat code or something?

Since you like Larry David (situational, ensemble comedy) I would recommend Schitt’s Creek on Netflix. Won a ton of Emmy’s this year.

If you're a racing guy, the new Kevin James sitcom, The Crew on Netflix is OK. A lot of stupid NASCAR humor. Not going to win any awards, but more of a classic sitcom style. My wife even enjoyed it becuase it was something different.

In my opinion this was Clancy’s best book. Hope the movie does it justice
As an aside, Jack Ryan stories ceased because Tom Clancy got divorced! Tom's ex successfully sued to get part of any money for not just any of Tom's books, but any using the "Jack Ryan" persona. So Tom Clancy quit writing books with Jack Ryan as a character so he didn't have to share royalties with his ex. This has now extended into Clancy's other book characters but Tom has long since died so the suit is against his estate.

I know a guy who divorced when he had over 3,000,000 frequent flier miles. In fact, his wife was having an affair while he did business in China. They valued the miles at $0.015 per mile or $45,000. Ouch.

I finished ZeroZeroZero. Looks like it's a one and done series.

Pretty good, though you really have to pay attention or you get lost. Partially because most of the dialog is in spanish or italian and partly because they like to go back in time 6-24 hours at least once an episode to set up the current scene.

agree, I got totally lost.

LOL, I knew so little about him I didn't even get his name right.
Yes you are correct. My mistake thanks.
I'll go back and fix it.
I remember a Clark from his books, but in that trailer for the movie the guy's name is Kelly, not Clark

Agreed. BBrown's original post was correct. John Clark was the main character in the Without Remorse book, but it looks like John Kelly is the main character in the movie. Likely a similar story arc?

Holy cow now I'm really confused.

I bet it has to do with the name regarding the divorce settlement that someone mentioned. So they just changed the name.
From the trailer, I am pretty sure the death of his gf/wife is different from the book as well.

The best character on Netflix is the impaired puberty fairy in 'Bigmouth', runner up is that guy from North Valley that busted up those Cali Cake Boys. He didn't have many lines.

Line of Duty on Amazon prime is a very good British police corruption drama which I believe has 5 seasons. I was hooked from the first episode as it moves along quite quickly.

Jane and I have been watching “New Tricks,” which is a British working-cop show. It’s mind candy, but it’s very well done.

My wife loved that show. I only saw it peripherally but it looked pretty good.

+1.
British crime and police dramas are a lot more "gritty" than the US ones.
Prime Suspect and Luther are 2 examples.
Edit: that was probably true until I started watching FX's Gangs of London. Yikes.
