On the last drive PSU put forth an up tempo offense or however you would define. It seems when they do this there is success. Why don't they do this more often?

They should work it in more, but we have complained about TOP and our defense wearing out in the past. You don't sacrifice nothing going fast.

They did very well with tempo, but late in the 4th quarter, it could be a function of many things. —as to : “Why don’t they do this more often” ? It’s the first game….a “shake down cruise” ,They haven’t had time to do anything more often yet.— Patience required

I think the game situation dictates the need to run up tempo. Cannot run it constantly because it also affects the PSU defense, possibly causing the D to spend more time on the field.

FWIW one of the commentators mentioned on the post game show that PSU should up tempo more often.

Early in the game, we were running into fronts we should have passed against. Tempo usually begins with a first down or at least a 6-9 yard gain that has the players scattered. We weren't getting those yards and then we had 4 first half drops.

One could argue that we tried to run tempo after Lee made the 12 yard rush and Clifford proceeded to over throw Tinsley on the very next pass (the pick 6).

Additionally, if this were something we could turn on and off, you would have thought we would have turned it on at the previous possession.

Execution is just as vital as any decision to run tempo.

We now go 2 deep on defense......and can afford to go fast on Offense and continue to substitute on Defense.

Getting the defense into simple- repeatable defenses is helpful to the offense. The last drive really was done very well. For the Blogy has a nice podcast on the last drive and why it was successful.

Got you, but this has been the case a couple years now
Dude, they’re playing a 2 min offense. Of course it’s up tempo.
They ought to run this offense at anytime in game. It does so much to keep defense off balance,

I am a fan of mixing it in once in a while unexpectedly

BOB did this with the nascar offense and it worked pretty well catching teams off guard
