Not entirely. There isn’t A reason, there are multiple reasons. Our continual inability to win these kind of games is systematic/programatic. We don’t win these games because we are not good enough physically, mentally, game plan-wise, and with respect to poise/composure. It is endemic to an overall problem with the program, led by Coach ”my record is a mirage” Franklin. W/L record is hollow when you’re actually 4-14 and 1 for 9. All else is a mirage.
Clifford gave up the ensuing 75 yard drive in 3 plays? With a simple run up the middle.
Lol--Clifford was responsible for them scoring in 3 plays. This whole making Clifford the scapegoat so we don't have to deal with reality needs to stop.
This is wby the issues are programmatic/systemic: an elite program, or one aspiring to be so, has no issue with Clifford, because a QB as prone to choking in important games WOULD NOT be playing!! Would Clifford start for Bama? For Georgia? For Ohio State? NO. Is it Clifford’s fault he has been a 4 year starter at PSU and has gone ZERO for 4 vs OSU? NO - it is the Program’s fault that he had to start for 4 seasons and not only didnt get any better, an argument can be made he got worse!
the PSU football program loses these games because it isn’t good enough to win them: coaches, game plan, players, substitution patters, S&C protocols, recruiting, operations, finance, Athletic Department management. Not good enough. We perform like a tier 2 program because we are a tier 2 program. No excuses, just reality.
Which was after that 3 play 75 yard drive that changed the game, right?
And what player screwed up leading to both of those turnovers?
