1-1 end of the first period after PSU outshoots ND 13-2. Yes, 13-2 with lots of quality chances gone to waste. Got the best of the period and didn’t capitalize... ugh.
INTERMISSION UPDATE: Franklin just paraded about 8-10 recruits through the student section posed for a few pictures and a few hand shakes. Students gave a good We Are effort as the recruits came through.
And ND goes up 3-1 after a couple of failed clearing attempts and a defensive disappearing act. Down 3-1 now with 16 to go in the second. Goalie substitution for PSU. Freshman Oscar Autio now in the pipes. Hope this doesn’t turn ugly.

What's up with the D for this team? Seems like this team struggles to hold leads and close out games.
Complete lack of toughness. No desire to hit, mostly token jabs at the puck handlers instead of good old fashioned slobber knocker checks. Also routinely outworked in the corners.
Cole Hults rips one from the point to cut it to a 3-2 deficit with 5 minutes to go in the second. Autio has made some big saves to keep us in it asNotre Dame Controlled most of the second period.
And we give it right back on a Notre Dame power play goal with 2:21 to go in the period. Our players sure stood there and admired the ND power play. 4-2 ND End of second period.
How many goals have opponents scored within two minutes after a PSU goal? Outshooting ND 28-17 but they are out working PSU all over the ice and passing much better.
Kinda thought that but I don't know hockey that well. Guess that's on the coaching staff (at least partially)? The team certainly enjoys pushing it down the ice and scoring enough.
Dennis Smirnov just made 2 NHL moves and buried a back hander to cut it to 4-3 then less than 2 minutes later the defense falls asleep again and watches as ND flails away and knocks one past Autio to take the 5-3 lead.
