2022 TEAM: 131 points

125: 0.5
133: 23 - F/M
141: 23 - F/M
149: 1
157: 2 - M
165: 0
174: 22 - F
184: 23 - M/M/M
197: 21.5 - T
285: 15.5 - F/M

PSU had 12 wins by BONUS in '22.
Does PSU exceed 12 BONUS wins at the NCAAs in '23?
Will the PSU total of BONUS points exceed last year's 16.5?

A trio of FR will be coming in HOT at 49/57/65 ...
will they score more team points than last year's 49/57/65?

With Bartlett dropping to 141 ... big shoes to fill
... does he make the podium this year?
... does he earn 10 Team Points?

6 AAs last year --- is this team able to get 9 AAs?
What will the O/U line be from Vegas on "Number of AAs"? 7 O/U?

... will the 2023 Team Score be higher or lower than 131?

... will the 2023 Team Score be higher or lower than 131? More

To give perspective on NCAA Bonus Points for Penn State during the Cael years...

Excluding 2015, the lowest Bonus Point total is 2011 & 2022, with 16.5.
In 2021, Penn State had 17 Bonus Points.
All other years were 20 or more, as follows;
2012 - 25.5
2013 - 29.5
2014 - 20
2016 - 23
2017 - 32.5
2018 - 23.5
2019 - 28

Other than 2011, with 16.5 points, the last two 4-peats have consisted of a good bit more bonus than the past two seasons. I would say, in comparison, the current teams of the past three years still have top end talent, but without the extreme bonus point potential.

Taylor (91.2%), Nolf (86.6%), Nickal (77.1%), Ruth (75.9%), Retherford (75.4%), and Lee (Nick, 65.2%) are 1-6 on the all-time % Bonus Wins list for PSU, while Hall (62.5%) is 8th and Joseph (58.8%) is 11th.
The highest current team member is Kerkvliet, sitting at 10th all-time at 60.4%. Four other current wrestlers are in the 15th through 24th place range all-time.

While today's bonus point machines are solid, with guys in the 49-61% range for their career, the guys noted above in places 1-6 all-time are other-worldly, and explains the lower numbers of the past 2 years. If 2023 is to be different, we'll need bonus from everyone at the tournament, and some need to be falls.

Speaking of FALLS, it's another dynamic I just looked at.
In 2022 we had 4.
In 2021 we had 0.
In the years 2011 - 2019, excluding 2015, we had; 6, 7, 10, 5, 5, 7, 4, 9! That's a lot of bonus from pins/defaults/fft's.

Great research Roar! I hope retirement is treating you well. In May it will be four years retired for me. Time flies!

Thanks for the kind words. Time does fly, so enjoy every minute, even of your working years.

Behind my desk, I kept several inspirational quotes; from Roosevelt, from Einstein, and my favorite - from Lincoln. I also kept two poems, one having to do with retirement, among other things and "enjoying the ride". Here's a link; http://parkrangermike.com/Poems/The Station.pdf
It even has a "Psalm's" reference!!

At the beginning of the year I made a donation bet with an HR poster on the O/U of PSU 131.5. I still have the over. The bet was made well before Levi's shirt was pulled but also before Robbie was declared out for the year.

I read WrestleStat currently has PSU at 131.7. I am feeling pretty good taking the over. I believe more bonus points will be coming at this year's NCAAs than what we've averaged this dual season. I almost think we've been sandbagging a bit, not showing all our cards during dual matches.

Roar, Thanks for sharing that wonderful poem. It reminds me a little of Emily Dickinson's poem, "Because I could not stop for Death".

Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.

We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility –

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess – in the Ring –
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain –
We passed the Setting Sun –

Or rather – He passed Us –
The Dews drew quivering and Chill –
For only Gossamer, my Gown –
My Tippet – only Tulle –

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground –
The Roof was scarcely visible –
The Cornice – in the Ground –

Since then – 'tis Centuries – and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity –
