If Joey Porter continues to play at his current level, he could finish with a better season than last year’s defensive rookie of the year.

He's gone up against some very good receivers and largely shut them down; he's done a very good shop since they actually started to play him, as has the No. 1 o-line pick from UGA.

I think all of the above plus Herbig and Alexander will be viewed as one of the Steelers’ better draft classes a couple of years from now.

What’s amazing is that, despite how underwhelming they can be in almost every game, they actually have a very good chance to finish at least 11-6 because of their remaining schedule, which consists of home games against the Cardinals and Patriots, a road game against the Colts, a home game against the Bengals, and road games against the Seahawks and Ravens. That could set them up for a favorable playoff position.

I actually predicted that they would finish 11-6 prior to the season, but never thought that they would attain that record by playing the way that they have. It’s just that there are a lot of very average to outright bad teams in the NFL this season, and even the expected Super Bowl contenders like the Chiefs have issues and aren’t as dominant as they have been.
