The Wolverines coach has been suspended by the NCAA as punishment for recruiting violations and false claims he made to investigators earlier in the offseason. The alleged infraction stemmed from an extended recruiting dead period as a result of COVID-19.

HaHa the joke's on me... apparently, the real story was a 3-game suspension:

"Harbaugh served a three-game suspension earlier this season, levied by the University of Michigan as a response to the ongoing NCAA investigation into the football program. The Wolverines face allegations of impermissible recruiting, improperly using an analyst as a coach, and watching offseason team workouts over video, all Level II violations."

However, this more authoritative site is fretting over the possibility there will be more:

"But Harbaugh, now in his ninth season at Michigan, faces a more serious Level I violation for allegedly misleading investigators. The investigation is still pending, with the school having only received a draft of allegations, but Harbaugh faces the potential of a second, expanded suspension under NCAA jurisdiction.

If he is suspended by the NCAA, and this rule proposal goes through, it would mean Harbaugh could be forced to sit at home for the entirety of the penalty. Under the Michigan-levied suspension, Harbaugh was only barred from stepping foot on campus facilities for game day and could still partake in practices and meetings leading up to game day."
