How does Old Main Location affect protest?

The better way is to have a sign with a “polite message” attached with Velcro tabs at each corner in order to pass security. Rolled-up and hidden under your outerwear are many more signs, with Velcro attached at each of the four corners” such that they can be easily and quickly attached and substituted.
A protest would be stupid. Pro-Paterno signs will look kind of desperate to me.
Now, signs directly aimed at ESPN and the way they help direct public opinion and have subsequently moved to be more of a political network would be more poignant.

They did it at Mizzou and it looked great. It'll look even better at Old Main. For those who are into that sorta thing.
Any anti-ESPN, anti-NCAA and anti-BOT will be viewed favorably by the audience.
We know how ESPN treated us (and still pretty much does) and I'd be happy not to host gameday, but we need to turn this into a positive thing for PSU. I don't give a crap about ESPN, but let's use this to our advantage. Recruits watching this were in middle school when the scandal started, they could care less at this point. Our underclassmen students too were in middle school, and something before they enrolled will not stop them from coming out to cheer Gameday. So let's use this to our benefit for going forward. I'd love to be there with a negative sign, but then we stoop to their level.
If all the signs were directed at the fact that ESPN is a failing network, that would be perfect and it would hit close to home for those dirtbags. Maybe a giant bar chart of net change in subscribers by month.
I think those of us on these Boards are over thinking this. Most at Game Day with signs will be students who were in middle school six years ago have no recollection of ESPN and the scandal.

They control the signs every single week. They have checkpoints to get in and if you somehow slip something past it and they spot it later they will take the sign or kick you out. This is simply a scenic backdrop play, nothing more. The crowd will be 80%+ students that have mostly moved on anyway. This gameday will look like any other on TV, excessive backlash will basically be a non-issue for ESPN as far as what is seen on the broadcast.
It's a great location for the brown bag game day team.... They can walk down to 'the wall' and drink their 'Mad Dog 20-20' or Ripple and sleep it off on Old man lawn.

agree - i dont seen this ESPN crew as being negative on PSU right now. this is a very nice scene = what they just did at TCU a few weeks ago. very nice location. not sure what we would expect with signs. do you think people would have signs going back to Sandusky stuff? why would we do that?? just makes PSU look bad.
I remember back in 2009, the big push was for everyone to just take plain white signs to "white out" Gameday, There were about 10 people with them, and the other 98% had the same "witty" signs you see every week. I'd expect the same deal on Saturday.
It's for dramatic effect for their montage. "Six years ago, the unthinkable happpened..." JS highlights, shot of BOT firing Joe, which wow, happened right there where they are now broadcasting. Then they can transition to how everything is fantastic now because we are ranked #2 and show a bunch of Saquon highlights. Because football solves everything.

Have never been to a Gameday however.. it’s starts at 10 am.. yes? And our game is at 7:30 pm ?

My .02... also... interesting location ie Old Main... wonder if they have Barron join ? Talk about what’s happening at Penn State ie all the continued “ good” things... a chance for a great PR moment for PSU.
Din’t Get me wrong... I hate ESPN... BUT... being on National TV with a Gameday setting is something we should take advantage of.., not turn our backs on.,,
Any protests etc... as much as I hate what happened to us like many others.., protests...juvenile behavior etc just confirms what others believe... Carpe Diem !!!!!
Are you kidding me? ESPN is not frightened of any negative sign that you or any other fan may create. Negative and disrespectful signs are a bad reflection on the University rather than a bad reflection on ESPN.
Does anyone really believe the best way to fight the perception that a culture problem exists at PSU is to show up at the game day set with negative, disrespectful signs.

Dude, you don't know anything. They do their best to control the signs at every location, whether they're at the stadium or somewhere else. It's not something special they decided they need to do for PSU.
Herbstreit forced OSU into the playoff? Right, and Joe Paterno was the most powerful man in State College.

I was essentially busting on you. It was intended as humor, nothing more. But I might add that your continual use of the term "JoeBots" is a bit tiresome, and unlikely to win you many converts on this Board.
You forgot to add they can point down the lawn to College Avenue and say "that is where the students rioted when the Board of Trustees fired Joe Paterno". Cue the footage of students overturning the television van which was previously broadcast all around the country. My guess is the ESPN producers have scripted all this well in advance by choosing Old Main for their back drop.
It doesn't matter. If ESPN doesn't want it shown they will just have security escort you out of the area. If you refuse you can be charged with criminal trespass. This is not the first time they done this. They know how to deal with it.

No but PSU does. Penn State are hosting the event. Do you think they are not going to work with ESPN in regards to security? That like saying if someone has a concert in the BJC they won't be able to remove someone because they don't have control over PSU campus property.
