Completely self loathing

I am miserable right now. I am in a super funk.

I shouldn’t be I have a healthy family decent job nice house but I am flat out in in a rut.

for those like me hopefully we all get out of this.
Right there with you, sunshine. Only my job is quickly becoming a stinker.
However, one of my go-to responses for “Norman, how are you doing? is - great, but I’ll get better. Don’t know how, I just need to make it better!

Shake it off. Start exercising more. Don’t listen to you inner B**ch who puts things off or whines. Easier said than done but get outside with you family and friends. Hike, walk.....all can still be done with social distancing. It helps.

Come to my house. I'll give you a truck and a saw and a huge pile of logs. Put em on the truck, drive back to my place, run em across the power splitter and put em on a stack. 7 or 8 hours of that and you wont remember that you felt bad, let alone why.

This makes me wonder...has the porn industry been affected by all this? I assume so.

There was a big article online last week how adult entertainment is really suffering in Seattle, and the implications from it. And this was before social distancing became the phrase of the day.

I finally got laid for the first time in at least two weeks. It's been rough but damn I had five seconds there where I didn't think of the problem. Try it man it helps!
I saw someone get laid today if you count my boss with his head up his ass.

You don't even want to know the bargain I pressed today. And it wasn't explicitly accepted. Dark times for those in free agency. ( Not a sex metaphor).

Marshall and sunshine:
I have only ever found 1 thing that turns a funk around for me. Not saying it will work for you, but here goes.

Find a person somewhere around you whose life is undeniably more F#cked than yours. Regardless how low you are, there are lots of people within 10 minutes of you who are worse off and who despise themselves more than you. Go to where they are, and help them somehow.

Gonna be a little tougher with the virus bullshit, but still doable. You could give em money, but that wont help either one of you much, or for long. DO something for them. Find out their size and buy em some pants. Get em an ice cream cone. Talk about their problems with them, and apply your smarts to their issues. It will be easy for you to see how to help someone whose life really is f#cked up and make it better.

While you are focused on their problems you forget yours. When you get back to your problems you may find your perspective has changed. Just a thought. Works for me.

Welcome to my world. I've been depressed for 18 days 5 months and 10 years since my wife died. Laughs and good times have been few and far between. Now, I could give a shit about myself, but I get to worry about my sons....their health and their jobs.
Oh my word Marshall23. I’m so sorry to learn of your loss. If you don’t mind me asking, how long we’re you together ? And how old are your boys?

Hang in there.

It's an extremely difficult time, and you aren't alone. I don't have any kind of sage advice, but just put one foot in front of the other. Any funk or rut I've ever been in seems trivial when I view it a decade later.

Man, I have nothing to say...that's just brutal and I'm so sorry.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't been so down for a long, long time. Hope this turns around soon.

Sorry to hear that. I was a free agent until 5 years ago and now my boss can't decide who is actually essential or non essential so I have to report tomorrow to read the email for myself to decide. Word is we have to use sick time even if we're forced to go home. This won't end well no matter what.

Sunshine, this usually works for me.

I hit the local Trader Joe’s twice a week. I live in a community of 118 homes and have lived here since the mid-90s. I ALWAYS buy a bouquet or two of alstroemerias and drop them off with a rotation of 10-12 ladies in the neighborhood. A collection of ladies some widowed, some not in great health, some simply nice wives of nice couples.

The 10-stem bouquets usually last 10 days - 2 weeks and are cheapies at $3.99. I bring home a bouquet for myself every other week and flowers can really help pep up the house.

The smiles I get from these friends when I stop by brightens both their days and my day even if it’s one of those “well today really sucks” days.
