I remember a comment by Lou Holtz when he was asked about redshirting Ron Paulus (5 star I believe) He said something like that if he is that good, he won't be here 5 years, and if he is not that good, we don't want him here for 5 years. If you agree with that philosophy, then it would make sense to play some of the top talent like Shorter, Datsun and perhaps a few others. Just saying.
