Beginning at about 1:58 Simms gives his unvarnished opinion of Harbaugh. Among other things when he went to Michigan, he didn't even bother to tell his coaches a San Francisco that he had left until the very end of the process. Gave no assistance or support to his assistant coaches at San Fran. Cut off an interview for a petty reason. Thinks there is no real interest in NFL with respect to Harbaugh -- thinks Harbaugh himself is planting the rumors. Let's hope Michigan is stuck with this jerk. https://www.sportscasting.com/chris...2IkWFUhSLwcD64Tj8yJxq0uPMdE7Tue_C0eFWuaKKqU9A

What a moron. Harbaugh shows the character of a true leader. Gave a couple million to other coaches. Never uses coaching openings to ask for more, salary like someone we now

Sure Harbaugh was completely honorable to his assistant coaches (and their families) at the 49ers who were left completely in the dark and twisting in the wind when they were given zero notice of his impending move to Michigan and zero help in transitioning after Harbaugh left.

Also, very helpful to one of his players, James Hudson, who was having mental difficulties and wanted to transfer to Cincinnati. Here is what Luke Fickell had to say about your leader:

""[Fickell] Nothing more than asking, 'Hey, what’s your stance on James? Are you going to help the kid?'
"It wasn’t like pleasant or anything. It was kind of cold. It was short. It wasn’t a long conversation. It wasn’t hard to figure out what their stance was. They supposedly weren’t going to hold (Hudson's waiver) up but they weren’t going to help him." https://www.freep.com/story/sports/...arbaugh-luke-fickell-james-hudson/2018548001/

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. His son acted off the charts impossible during his recruitment.

Was all set for PSU, then committed to Tennessee, then went to Texas. And IIRC there was a brief period when he might go to BC in between Tennessee and Texas

This IS the son. The father is Phil.

Playing? He was the perennial backup, meaning we'll keep you on the roster for daddy. How did his coaching career go after football? He has a history of blaming coaches for his lack of success. He hates Harbaugh because he didn't handle the process properly? He hates Jon Gruden for rushing him back into practice. According to him Steve Spurrier is a quitter.

And how is Jim Harbaugh able to comment on Kaperniks contract, he is not the GM. Chrissy can barely get through this interview, stumbling and looking down at the notes he has on Harbaugh. He joined CBS because of daddy.

He had his cup of tea for sure, served with a silver spoon on a golden platter.

Ooop, Bill Belichick was tyrant, the hours he demanded of coaches, like Chrissy, were too much so he quit after a season.

I'm not sure why anyone expects significant insight from many of the NFL talking heads, particularly on CBS and NBC-they seem to be chosen for other reasons.
If anybody, in my opinion, has a reasonable basis to judge a coach, it would be someone who was unfairly treated (and possibly more than once), and rose above it...Tom Brady and Joe Montana come to mind with their college coaching experiences. To their credit, to my knowledge neither talked about it publicly to any extent, other than in a positive light-how it helped them grow and compete.

James Hudson, the guy that Harbaugh kicked to the curb blossomed under Luke Fickell at Cincinnati and was a fourth round draft pick of the Browns. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...he-switched-from-dl-as-a-freshman/ar-BB1gggiz Along with Donovan Peoples Jones, who has done much better with the Browns than he did under Harbaugh and who was very highly recruited, further evidence of Harbaugh's generally mediocre coaching skills. Fickell also developed 2 All American CBs this year with kids who were way down the rankings list. A really impressive job.

Wasn't aware of Chris Simms' past history, which while being recruited, was not good. However, haven't seen anywhere where Harbaugh's past 49er assistants have come to his defense.

I am also not defending Harbaugh, every competitive coach is going to have enemies, make mistakes, etc....of you which you can probably point to plenty with Harbaugh (not even private ones). But 1) the way he handled his exit at San Fran and 2) not wanting to discuss private or confidential business (Kapernick Contract) that he may not even have a say in would not be in my personal top 20 issues to tear into him about.

Lastly, Simms is obsessed with him, "I always rout against Michigan because of Harbaugh", is that really something a "journalist" should say?

So Buck: What do you think of this guy named Ryan Day? I hear he is kind of an asshole, too. Roar, Lions, roar.

Wouldn't bring this up again, but for you using the term "moron" and not having a clue as to what you are talking about. Here is Steve Deace of Michigan podcast saying he should be fired for interviewing for an NFL job on signing day and mentioning how he left the players and coaches in the lurch. Apparently, today, his offensive coordinator Gattis left because he didn't feel appreciated at Michigan.

The word in Austin was the team called Simms "Cadillac" since he arrived in a Caddy limo the first day. Team resented him for that and that's probably why they played harder for Applewhite during those years
