depends on how you mean bigger:
All things being equal I think it helps us more if we beat Auburn, beating an SCC team is a good thing and helps with perceptions.
That being said, losing to Whisky out of the gate could have horrible effects on team

Auburn is expected to go 7-5 and those 7 wins basically come against the cream of the crap. This game is being hyped to insane heights but auburn isn’t a good team. Still might beat us though.

Auburn is big only if they hang with or beat Wisky. And the Ball State. If they get whipped at Madison and struggle with TBS, the air will have gone out of the balloon vs. Auburn.

Auburn. White-out game. Primetime. Huge recruiting weekend...our 2022 class is already elite...but this could pay huge dividends in 2023 and 2024. Win the Auburn game and make a splash on the national scale...and a 9-3 season (with losses at OSU, at Iowa, and at Wisconsin) is still a success.

Both have their own importance but I think the white out game on national tv against an SEC team is bigger. Win that game and the Wisky game from 2 weeks earlier is in the rear view mirror. Because of the hype of the white out this game will mean more nationally and with recruits IMO.

You gotta watch Nova this year, they have a 5'6" 589 pound squattin Jersey hobbit CathChodelik league named Bringo Tuggs. He's nort central Itahhyan jersey and when you see him in these streets he say's "Get like Tuggs" - this aint ND hooomie

Auburn. Wisconsin is just Wisconsin. Auburn is an SEC team and carries much more cache in the national media.

If that is true, the game matters less. It does not impact B1G standings and, if game does not go well, perception that Auburn is good (which I don't agree with) means that a loss is less consequential. Have to beat Wisconsin if hoping to contend. Not so with Auburn.

First, Wisky is all the things mentioned by most on this board. It IS very important.

But as I've said before, MANY players who chose us did so over auburn. The portal awaits those not liking what they see from us when we play Auburn. We NEED that game to keep the gates open.

If we beat can Wisky at wisky, it's unlikely we lose to aubrey in HV. If we lose to wisky, aubrey becomes the most important game we've played in years.

imo, of course.

Week 1 Wisconsin. Week 2 Ball State. Week 3 Auburn. One game at a time.
Yep. Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, Wisky, .....

Gotta start out 1-0 the first weekend of the season.

Wisconsin. If you win that game it sets the tone for the rest of the season.

Auburn may carry some cache but they are not getting a lot of respect in the preseason national chatter (at least on 247)

Wisconsin is the bigger game, top 20 game, conference foe, and a chance for us to prove last season was a fluke. Auburn does not have a good team this year, and we should beat Auburn unless the wheels to the program have fallen off. If we beat Wisconsin, then we should definitely beat Auburn.

For 2021 season, Wisconsin is bigger. This team was a headcase in 2020. They need to start off strong...and beating a ranked team on the road is HUGE.

For the future, the Auburn game is bigger. It'll turn heads of kids nationally if we have a good showing.

Every game prior to the break is huge, even Nova. The season can go off the rails pretty quickly with the schedule. Start with Wisconsin.
