Hope to have a final, more extensive breakdown next week with a lot more comments but here is what I have for this week. As always, feedback is always welcomed. Also, if you see anybody who you know is incorrect for starters, please let me know. +/- is based off of where they were last week.

125
1 Sebastian Rivera Northwestern
2 Spencer Lee Iowa
3 Rayvon Foley Michigan State
4 Sean Russell Minnesota
5 Connor Brown Wisconsin
6 Travis Piotrowski Illinois

1 Steven Micic Michigan
2 Austin DeSanto Iowa +1

Thanks. Is he on leave from the school or just the team? If school, I would think that has to put him out of the Big 10 Tournament. The Wisconsin backup lost to #13 seed Cray from Maryland this weekend so you can pretty much move seeds 6-14 up one line and slide him in last if that is the case. (If you believe my seeds in the first place)

Iowa and Minnesota move from #4 and #5 to #2 and #4. I get what you’re doing, and I really enjoy the posts, thank you, but it will be interesting to see how the B1G coaches seed the IA and MN wrestlers since neither school faced Penn State, Ohio State, or Michigan, while those three schools all beat on each other.

Does Carr wrestle Lee this weekend or will he sit? Do they just look at your Big Ten record or overall when seeding for the Big Ten Tournament? Thanks.

I agree with your seeds for 133. RBY might be the best 7 seed in BIG 10 tourney history.

Does Carr wrestle Lee this weekend or will he sit? Do they just look at your Big Ten record or overall when seeding for the Big Ten Tournament? Thanks.

Big Ten record is certainly the first criteria. In case of a tie, I'm not sure what the other criteria are, but I'm sure overall record is in there somewhere.

Thanks for posting these! The Illinois dual this week sure looms large for some of our guys for seeding purposes. Specifically, Lee and Rasheed. Would be nice to see Berge/Verk (funny side note, my auto-correct is forever trying to change Berge to Verge and Verk to Berk...but I digress) get a win, and RBY could further secure his place somewhere in the top half with a win over Duncan.

IIRC (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), it goes:
1. Big dual record
2. Big overall record, incl tourneys
3. Head-to-head
4. Overall record

If that is right then RBY should be above Pletcher and Thornton. Not sure how he would be seeded vs Lizak since each have one loss in duels and Lizak has one more dual win but also one more Big tourney loss. If Suriano loses to Micic this weekend and RBY and Lizak win out, they could be the 3 and 4 seeds with Suriano likely 5 and Pletcher 6.

It's by coaches vote, using all available info. Given that each team misses four other conference teams, and there's injuries during the season, there has to be a bit of thought that enters in.

Quentin Wright won it from a #8 seed his SO year and, of course, won the NCAA's later that year!

Q's run from #8 at B1Gs and #9 at NCAAs is one of the best memories of the Cael era for me. Talk about a guy totally turning it around. He beat everyone who had beaten him and then went on to be almost unbeatable the next 2 years.

Thanks Roar! Not sure why I had those criteria in my head.

Gravina from Rutgers is also done. He has been out of the line-up and an extremely reliable source says he will not return. Not sure about Sebastian from Northwester either. he has missed a few matches and has had a history of bad shoulder injuries.

You're welcome, but I wasn't really saying your criteria is wrong. It's ALL used, with bouts outside of conference duals used more like a tiebreaker when needed.

Gravina wrestled yesterday (and won) against Purdue.

Yes - crazy what confidence can do... Q had to barely fight off a late takedown attempt vs the #1 seed (I think from Wisky) to win in the BIG Qtrs... then doesn't lose the rest of the year. Unreal.

Q was also wrestling hurt mid season. I know he took a tough loss vs Iowa with his shoulder wrapped.

Some of those losses while not 100% lowered his seed, but once he became healthy ....

Man, he became a force.

People seem to forget that Q was hurt and badly at the Nittany Lion Open that season. When he came back he obviously was not 100% and lost a number of dual matches. By BIGs he was back with a vengeance.

Not that it matters much, but I think you'll see Paul Konrath at 133 for IU. He should be back in the lineup this weekend and will get a shot at Murin and Lizak.
