No idea, but 50, 60 years from now it's gonna be interesting. How will we have dealt with the water issues in the American Southwest, for example? The Salton Sea is going dry, once that mother dries up, its toxic dust is gonna make one hell of a dust storm in California. That's just one little part of it.

American males were ruined with the advent of Roller Disco, Charlie's Angels, and Monday Night Football.

Seems it only a matter of time before we or our descendants live in a Mad Max world. The only questions are why and when? Give a guess at how long before its all over.
Any of those things might happen. For my own part, I am watching out for the Dominionists, though. They seem hell-bent on bringing about some sort of apocalyptic something or other.

JUMP TO 3:45 in the video (for an explanation)...

A virus - manmade or not. You see, the great physicist I. I. Rabi once said, you can't stop mob rule. Once civilization is destroyed, people behave like a mob. Look at modern day Iraq. ISIS thrives b/c of the lack of civilization/infrastructure in that country.

A virus that wipeouts most of society will destroy that infrastructure. The survivors will take on the "Lord of the Flies" mentality. People like me, scientists, will not be heard nor given a chance. It will throw humankind straight back to the middle/dark ages. Society will once again be ruled by kings and emperors

Well, probably, "STUPIDITY". The average IQ is 98, and dropping fast thanks to "online BBS's" :)

Ooops. I left out alien invasion and rise of the machines! And I was going to add when the BoT takes over the world but I knew that would skew the results.

And in the end, we will just blame Jay......

I'm reminded of the Penn Jillette line that goes something like this: If you look throughout history, over any period of time other than short ones, two things are always true, one, things are always getting better and two, people always think things are getting worse.

The only thing about the world a hundred years from now that pisses me off is that I won't be around to see how great it is.

Yep, great post.

There will be ups and downs, but I suspect 100 years from now will be interesting. Of course, I think 100 years ago was interesting, too.

When knuckle head politicians give us "more socialism".

I suppose the fall of the Roman Empire and the entirety of the dark ages that followed are what Penn Jillette considers a short period of time.

Pretty much just described the plot of The Stand by Stephen King. Although a small group seemed to go more of the Ralph route than the Jack one.

I'm surprised EMP attack isn't getting more votes - that event is not comparatively hard to accomplish and would send our soft asses back to the 1800s in an instant.

Recently read an interesting book on such an attack called One Second After.

It won't. There will be endless appeals.

In other words, in the brilliant poetry of Warren Zevon: "And if California slides into the ocean, as the mystics and statistics say it will...I predict this motel will be standing...
until I pay my bill."

The Chicago Cubs win the World Series, the Cleveland Browns win the Super Bowl and the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup all in the same year.

Now everyone knows that the big downward spiral started with nObama.

Nope... it started with Ford, got MUCH worse with Carter, flat-lined then improved with Regan, then got worse with Bush, then flat-lined with Clinton, then got worse with Bush, then plummeted with Obama. The biggest anomaly through it all is the Stock Market.

They were saying that in 1940. The world has gotten better in many ways. Mother Nature (ice age, volcanic eruption) would be my choice to wipe out the human race. For the guy who said the sun is going to burn out I say yes that is true but in a billion years or so.
