Paris Palmer is 295 with a goal of being 305 by September. What is the normal size and weight of an offensive tackle. He is tall and lankly looking....

What would be a great weight for him to be?

As much as he can carry without negatively impacting his mobility......which will be a higher and higher number as he continues to mature.

Per GoPSUSports.com, Donovan Smith was 6'-5" (77 inches) / 335 lbs. Mathematically that means his weight was ~4.35 lbs/inch (vertical height).

If you use that same #'s/inch on Palmer's 6'-7" (79 inches) he should be at ~343.5 lbs (not that I'm advocating that he go that big).

Seeing that Palmer has gone from a 6'-7" (79 inches) 278 lb (per GoPSUSports) lanky frame to muscular looking (per LFL) 299.4 (per CJF video on no names on jersey video)

He's moved from ~3.52 lbs/inch (vertical height) to ~3.79 lbs/inch (vertical height).

CJF wants him @ ~305 by Sept 5, which is ~3.86 lbs/inch (vertical height). I feel that for his size that may be a bit light still, and think he could better off in the 315 lbs range, ~4 lbs/inch (vertical height).

The top NFL OT draft picks that are 6'7" are over 340 lbs. That's another 40 lbs of muscle, although some probably have bigger bone structures as well.

If PP can get to 320 by adding good weight by the 2016 season he will hold his own (regarding size/strength, technique is another matter....) with any college DL.

In the post 2016 season pre NFL draft workouts he will continue the journey to being an NFL player.......

That is a good weight for him. They probably brought his weight down to lower his body fat. Now they are building muscle and he is right on target.
