Mat Scouts has Penn State at 170 Points

I wonder how many points Pete Maravich would have scored with a 3-point line.

Nevermind. Dale Brown once charted all of his college shots and determined that with a 3-point line Pete would have averaged 57 points a game and put up a total points number that no one would ever touch. Does that cheapen anyone else's record?
Or if he would have been allowed to play 4 years.

And the two that didn’t AA both made the blood round. Ersland lost in OT in R12 and Hand picked up 4 bonus (FFT and Fall) in wrestle backs.
It’s good to find more people seeing that 170 is very possible and 180 is in play for PSU. Numerical analysis can take us only so far. Matches are not coin flips. That’s why we wrestle them. After the pigtail there’s a 32 person bracket. 2x2x2x2x2=32. All that tells us is that at each weight one person has to win 5 matches in a row. Since Cael and his great staff came to PSU, we’ve been winning an inordinate number of matches that plain math can’t begin to explain.

Several factors favor Penn State wrestlers each time one of them steps on the mat:

  • They came to PSU believing they would become the best versions of themselves here and nowhere else. By now they recruit themselves. They know they must win a spot in the lineup that has 2-4 wrestlers at each weight that could start at 90+% of other Division 1 colleges. And still they come.
  • They train with the best coaching staff and wrestle with the finest national and international wrestlers in the world.
  • They train for years before coming here and have not been worn down with the grind it out approach. At M2 and other fine centers they have learned to enjoy the sport and take care of their bodies.
  • They buy into getting 1% better each day and also jumping levels when it all comes together for them.
  • They understand that time off the mats is as important as time on the mats.
  • They don’t ever want to let the team or their teammates down. Whether a match is a quick pin or runs to 11 minutes or more, there is no quitting. If a wrestler loses a match, wrestle backs become a passion to contribute.
  • They are backed up by a top trainer, rehab specialists and a sports psychologist. Every person they interact with has their needs and best interests at heart. And Cael will carry the water.
  • Their parents see them turning into great wrestlers and even finer young men. The team becomes part of their family.
  • They all know how to train to peak in March, especially for the NCAA Championships.
  • From the first match on they are as healthy, rested and motivated as any wrestler can be. PSU wrestlers are the bad draw. The other teams know it.
  • Think about how our number 1 and 2 seeds will feast on their first few opponents putting up outrageous bonus points. At every stage in the tournament they know their coaches have worked out strategies to beat whoever they may have lost to before. It isn’t accidental that PSU wrestlers win so many second matches after losing a first match. They are shown how to wrestle with joy, gratitude and without fear. They honor their beliefs openly. Great coaches change lives, helping our wrestlers prepare for what comes after wrestling. WE ARE…. BLESSED!

I am here to serve! I was waiting until the seeds come out but I ran the base simulation with my guesses at seeds. The base simulation has PSU exceeding 170 13% of the time. Now because Cael can’t coach, Penn State usually does better than predicted so keep that in mind 😊

Penn State won 1000 out of 1000 realizations.

Iowa finished in 8th.
This deserves a bump up. Pretty dangdedid accurate!

Awww shit, I had it typed out but never hit send... SOB.. you owe me a sammy...
Here's what I had typed..
Kasak's first round match up is a bad one I fear a loss.. I think he will make a powerful run on the backside taking out RIdge or Gomez... It's a bet Pa..

It’s ok…..the check is in the mail!

Pretty Epic collapse for NC State though. They did have extremely favorable paths to scoring more points.
