It is usually easy to guess when a thread is about to be locked down. The reason threads are locked down is, however, a mystery to me. There are a number of inane threads that get quite lengthy and survive unscathed. I am not insulted, I just ignore them.
As soon as a thread ventures into politics, it is locked. Why? If posters are enjoying themselves why not leave the thread alone? What is the harm? National security?
I get, and fully support, time outs for posters who hi jack threads and incessantly dominate the conversation or are disrespectful. Sometimes I think threads are locked because they don't mesh with an individual moderator.
I am just one member, but I say let the boys play. No harm, no foul.
