Wasn't that what all the "Eye Test" experts at ESPN and BTN were telling us to start the season? Wasn't this the reason that duhO$U was ranked so high despite being utterly curb-stomped by Clemson in last year's post-season - not just getting curb-stomped 31-0, but it was the worst shutout loss by duhO$U since before WWII or something.....

So what happened? Could it be that the so-called experts were full of more bias and spin than actual insightful knowledge? If any of these jackwads were a fraction as smart as they think regarding football and football coaching/strategy, they wouldn't be sitting in a both behaving like heavily-biased, overly-infatuated cheerleaders rather than professional analysts and commentators!

The problem with Wilson is he's throwing it too much. They just need to get back to running the football. JT won't beat you with his arm, but will with his legs.

I wouldn't be downplaying OSU too much until after the game is over on 10/28.

OK stacked the line...everyone is going to make tOSU beat them through the air. I didn't watch much of the game (at McD's at Hills plaza then driving home) but saw a WR let a sure TD pass go right through his arms. JT is not a good thrower...at the same time, he doesn't have much to work with. Their best receiver was Samuel last year and he is playing in the NFL this year.

I talked to an OU buddy from Dallas who flew up for the game . He told me that Kevin Wilson was the OC at OU for 10yrs and they were glad when he left. He said Wilson gets erratic with his play calling sometimes. Not sure of all this- just what he told me.

The BTN crew was definitely saying it. They also kept telling us Northwestern was going to be a force until DUKE blew them out.

Hmmm, remember PSU last year in September? Never overlook the Bucks. Never. Their adjustment to Wilson is similar to PSU's adjustment to JoMo.

Kevin Wilson isn't in the same zip code as Joe Moorhead in coaching ability.

It took 4 games for PSU to click last year but they had a better passer. I'm not sure you can call it a failure after 2 games but you go ahead and run with it.

Wilson is doing exactly the same quality job as his predecessor did last year. They are running the same plays. Same pass routes. Same O linemen. Same everything. They have a new running back and that kid is excellent, but he is in his first year and he isn't Clarett. He isn't Zeke either. J.T. is a damn good quarterback, but he cannot hook up with receivers that aren't open.

Who's dipwad referring to? I can't see anybody that has called Wilson a "failure" at duhO$U. As per usual, dipwad has somehow managed to not only miss the point of what was posted, but twist it as well to something never posted. The ESPN and BTN self-proclaimed "experts" and "Eye Testers" told us that duhO$U's Offense was going to be transformed and MUCH BETTER than they were last year such that 31-0 curb-stompings like against Clemson last year wouldn't be repeated or be a problem this year. They repeatedly mentioned Wilson as to why they were ranking them 1 or 2 in the Country despite being an "also ran" in B1G East Division last year, getting curb-stomped by Clemson in an "invitational tournament" they never belonged in, losing a ton of starters from last year's team and the ACTUAL B1G East Division and B1G Conference Champions returning virtually their entire 3-Deep. Nobody ever declared the Wilson experiment at duhO$U a "failure", but many predicted before the season started that the talking-heads would be PROVEN WRONG in their claims about an instant impact and huge improvement due to Kevin Wilson.....looks like the people who said the talking-heads would be PROVEN WRONG on the field this year were PROVEN RIGHT.

Barrett has not regressed per say since his debut. However:

A) he has not improved as a passer
B) the talent around him today is of lesser quality than his first two seasons
C) coaches know his limitations and are willing to test them

Only upper echelon teams have beaten them. It's quite remarkable. I think if we teetered between 13-1 and 10-3 over the next 5 seasons with a national title in our trophy case, we would be ecstatic.

Ohio St. should have stuck with their offence this year. Next year they could have a pro-style QB.

Ohio St. can still pull it all together and turn the table. They have fine athletes. Wilson is a great offensive mind, well respected among coaches.

Wilson right now has a square peg he's trying to fit in a round hole. Sound familiar?

As I said in the preseason, Wilson is running Meyer's offense. Wilson had to come in and learn their system. When JT was asked in the spring how much had changed about their offense, he said not much. The talking heads way overrated Wilson's impact on their offensive productivity.

...and their receivers are average (and i am being generous)

The one with the dropsies, #21 I think, has the makings of a good WR, possibly great. He's fast, always creates separation, seems to run good routes, but either he drops the relative few good passes JT gets off or Barrett misses him altogether.

His short crossing routes he took to the end zone vs Indiana was beautiful.

To be fair, PSU wasn't an offensive juggernaut through week 4 last year.

To be fair, the "Eye Tester" homers and supposed "experts" said Wilson's impact would be immediate and fix the problems of last year that led to duhO$U's awful offensive performances against top-teams last year (like the 31-0 shutout drilling Clemson gave them in their final game).....which is why they were rating them as the 2nd best team in the country! What does PSU's first 4 games last year have to do with the biased, homer BTN and ESPN "Eye Tester's" claims for duhO$U being the #1 or #2 team in the country this year? Or these same clowns prediction that duhO$U would roll Oklahoma at home and Wilson would be a big reason why??? You do realize that duhO$U not only just got completely embarrassed by Oklahoma, especially how bad their offense was, but that this completely embarrassment happened while playing @home making it doubly bad as well as diametrically opposite the homer "Eye Testers" predictions of what would happen in this game???

Fair points on ranking. I was simply noting that past results are not necessarily indicative of future performance. The could be a "juggernaut" by Oct 28th, much as PSU experienced last year.

The problem with Wilson is he's throwing it too much. They just need to get back to running the football. JT won't beat you with his arm, but will with his legs.
JT always had the run option available and used it often enough to keep defenses honest making a great opportunity for the remainder of the offense to operate freely. The down field passes were rarely contested as the d backs were moved closer the line to stop the running game.

I really thought we would see an Indiana offense but we seem to see the worst of both offenses combined. JT looks like a deer in the headlights, no confidence in himself. It's a shame but as its a buckeye I won't shed too many tears. Them losing to UO didn't help us any yet it is satisfying to see their fans vacate the sacred shoe in droves late in the 3rd quarter.
