Graham Spanier will get more time to argue his case.

The former Penn State president convicted of misdemeanor child endangerment in March was granted an extension to reply to former FBI director and retired federal judge Louis Freeh’s new matter in Spanier’s defamation lawsuit.

Spanier asked for additional time to respond to Freeh’s document that brought the conviction into play. Sentencing in that case is set for Friday.

Freeh named Spanier as one of four culpable university leaders in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal in his Penn State-commissioned independent investigation of the case.

Spanier’s criminal case, along with the guilty pleas of former athletic director Tim Curley and former vice president Gary Schultz, stemmed from grand jury testimony in the Sandusky child sex abuse case. Sandusky continues to seek a new trial while serving a 30-to-60 year sentence in Somerset for the 45 counts of child sex charges he was found guilty on in 2012.

Lebanon County Senior Judge Robert Eby granted Spanier’s request to extend his opportunity to reply through June 6. The order posted by the Centre County Prothonotary’s Office on Monday was dated May 26.

Just another reason why this word - "incongruent" - is the most apt to describe the last 6 years:

incongruent
adjective
1. Made up of parts or qualities that are disparate or otherwise markedly lacking in consistency:
discordant, discrepant, dissonant, incompatible, incongruous, inconsistent.

You go through the process of filing a defamation suit..... and then when your number comes up at the Deli Counter of Justice you don't even make an argument in your own defense.
Seriously???? o_Oo_Oo_O

Knowing - unless you are a complete idiot - that, despite what those dusty old law books say, you are sitting as a man who is Presumed Guilty.

Something, that even if you ARE a COMPLETE IDIOT, you have to know - once your good friends and colleagues  , Tim and Gary, plead guilty.

At which point, even the dumbest of the dumb know that you MUST "PROVE YOUR INNOCENCE"..... and not simply hope you are not "proven" guilty.

Beyond SMFH...... a presumed guilty man who presents no case for his innocence?..... one HAS TO wonder:

"If it is impossible to be THAT F-ing stupid...... why?"

INCONGRUENT? Yep
