Really loved Rollie. Rest in peace. Just thinking that Villanova has played in two of college basketballs most iconic leagues. There will never be anything like the Big 5 in any city in this country. The venue, games, coaches and players were legendary. Couple that with them playing in the Big East and two of the greatest final games in Ncaa history and they have quite a resume. Any Philly kid that grew up in the 50's, 60's and 70''s can tell you what the Big 5 was like. The players knew each other from competing in the tough Philly Catholic League and the Nation's best Philly Public League.Rollie was blamed for the Big 5 breakup but it was an institution decision. In closing you should all check out the 1985 famous Pasta halftime speech that Rollie gives his trailing Villanova team against North Carolina. It's a Classic. The defense just got much better in heaven.

Couldn't give a $hit about Villanova Basketball, why are you posting this on a "PSU Board"???

Because it is great stuff, whether you're a basketball fan or not.

Their 1985 title run is epic. Sports are about the underdog winning, against all the odds.

Massimino is like Joe Paterno - one of the old school greats.

How about you think before you talk?

You really are obnoxious. This is an OPEN board. If you want exclusive Penn State content, PAY for The Lion's Den.

Ironic......beyond ironic really given that many of these hypocrites are the same tools who don't think we should be permitted to discuss the PSU Football Program and PSU in general being unjustly and unrighteously thrown under the bus and massively damaged to the tune of hundreds of thousands of True PSUers and hundreds of millions of dollars (if not billions of dollars) by a beyond corrupt, piece-of-$hit scumbag like Corbutt. We shouldn't be permitted to discuss injustices to PSU and PSU Athletics on a "PSU Board" and forced to listen to whinny screeds from @ssholes who don't even hold PSU degrees tell us that we shouldn't be permitted to post and discuss such topics, but we SHOULD discuss a topic like "Villanova Basketball" which has jack-$hit to do with PSU Athletics, PSU Football or PSU in any way whatsoever......go figure!

You're a bloody loon who just makes things up. You're also the worst writer on this board and there's not a close second.

IIRC, Dean Smith was out of timeouts with more than 3 minutes left in that '85 NCAA tourney game. Rollie embarrassed Smith. Rollie was one of the best gameday coaches of his era.

Tell ya what spark a doodle....you figure out a way to keep people from posting any non Penn State stuff on this board, and I will make sure Tom McAndrew gives you a juice box. Until then, keep your mouth shut, your eyes and ears open, and you will learn some valuable lessons.

Now go get your blanky and take a nap.
