I am a comparative scores, strength of schedule junkie. Always have been. Tells you a lot sometimes, -sometimes doesn't.
Today I used Steele's power poll. He ranks all teams as to their strength independent of schedule. It's an ok list, no better than several others it's just that I have it in front of me and it cost me $13.
According to Steele's list we played the 49th, 61st, 118th, and 60th best teams for an average of 70ith. OSU the reigning national champs played the 20th, 68th, 71st and 100th teams for an average of 65th. So yes, our schedule sucks, and we have the 121st team next up, but others including the national champ isn't much better.
Looking ahead for fun, Indiana played only 3 div.1 teams and the average ranked 90th. Same with Maryland, only three Div 1 schools and they ranked the same as our four, 70ith.
So what does it all mean? Not much, except our poor schedule is basically "average poor". And maybe Indiana's undefeated record isn't all that great.
yea, I need a life. think I'll go out and clean out the potting shed.
