Regardless, fascinating to think about, especially with the Big 12 sitting at 10 teams. How would you divide the divisions?

big-12-map-complete.png

+ Penn State
+ Nebraska
+ Ohio State
+ Michigan

What a homecoming this would be for Nebraska.

How would a guy with 200 followers who is,
As he calls himself “an unaffiliated reporter” (aka unemployed) get this scoop?

Yes. OTOH, Nebraska only has a Big 8 history with five of the current teams. I doubt anyone in Lincoln would get nostalgic about playing UT, TT, TCU, Baylor, or WVU. Nebraska/OU would be fun but unfortunately the Sooners would crush them this year.

So PSU would still have to beat OSU and UM to win there division, no change there- just might have to beat OU or Texas to win the conference.

HMMM Ok say what you want about academics money drives the train so lets look at what benefits these BIG teams would gain or lose by the move.

Gains
Texas, Texas , Texas. Has as much money in that state than PA, OH , Mich. History, tons of talent. An economic giant that is growing and will not stop anytime soon. Big TV draw
Oklahoma, Great history with a ton of TV appeal. Natural and past rival of Nebraska and would provide a national TV cash cow if PSU, OSU, Mich played them. Plus with the fracking in PA there could be a connection with OK, WV and PA
Kansas for basketball
Iowa St Wrestling
WVU Natural Rival for PSU

Losses
A century of history that would be lost in rivalry games , but that has not stopped Nebraska from leaving the Big 12, Pitt and WVU from not playing, Texas vs Texas A&M ect ect ect.

So you here is what the new Big 12 might look like
North
Penn State
WVU
Ohio State
Michigan
Iowa St
Kansas
Kansas St

South
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Nebraska

Both Divisions have stud teams and one side is not better than the other. Conference title game would rival SEC especially if Nebraska gets even close to what they used to be.

PSU would still have rivals with Ohio State and Mich but pick up an old foe in WVU. I like it. Kansas, Kansas St , Iowa St meh but its about the same as Indiana , Purdue, Nwestern, Rutgers. Championship game in Dallas why not

Basketball now is as good as the ACC , Football as good as SEC, the wrestling conference is still solid with the 8 teams that wrestle, Baseball very good as are other olympic sports

This James Stevenson guy is followed by a few B1G insiders...

Would've been so pumped to see PSU leading the way to play, but it's easy for me to say.

It really blows knowing Penn State is a clear-cut Top 2 team in the Big Ten this year with a chance to knock off OSU at home. Need to rattle off a string of wins against a handful of programs, but luckily for them they will most likely get to dodge us this year.

There is no reason to stick to any conference this year, no crowds, split the TV $$$, they could play in the SEC, ACC, or PAC 12 as far as i'm concerned,

So the first and only Big 12 team that comes to your mind for wrestling is Iowa State? Mkay.

If you assert that big xii wrestling is just about iowa state, someone might have a boone to pickens with you.

Yep this is going to happen, the OSU and Michigan call all the shots in the BIG and now they're going to play second fiddle to Texas in the Big 12. I think not!

And that big sucking sound you hear comes fom PSU's athletic budget.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense that the top members of a good conference would suddenly join one of the crappiest ones.

Ok lets look at that statement, Lets compare the Big 12 vs the BIG minus PSU, OSU, Mich and Neb

Whats left in the BIG if those 4 teams left? And lets put the Big 12 against them

Wisconsin Oklahoma
Iowa Texas
Michigan St Oklahoma St
Minnesota TCU
Indiana Iowa State
Illinois Kansas St
Purdue WVU
Maryland Texas Tech
Rutgers Baylor
N'Western Kansas

About the same

Top TV games
Michigan vs Ohio State
Texas vs Oklahoma Red River Rivalry
Oklahoma vs Oklahoma state Bedlam
Ohio St vs Penn State
Oklahoma vs Nebraska used to be a national televised game
Penn St vs WVU Old Indy days
Penn State vs Michigan
WVU vs Michigan call it the Rich Rod game

Any crossover games that has PSU, Mich, Ohio st vs Oklahoma , Texas, OK St

I like the match ups

Money? How will teams make money playing in empty stadiums? Or if they play in partially filled stadiums, won't sanitizing everything, making sure fans socially distant eachother, etc cost so much that they'll come out even?

Oh I was talking about after covid No one is making money this year. I think PSU, Mich, OSU, Neb could make big money in the Big 12 because that new Big 12 conference would demand as much or more than the SEC and old Big thats all. And right now no one is playing football this is just for arguments sake. And come on now who would not want Texas or Oklahoma to come to Happy Valley every other year or so
