SHORT TIME: Cael on National Duals, Big Ten Preview

"....We are pointing fingers.....and thats good for the sport"

Great interview, if you have the hour put the head phones and listen.

Well done JB

Lots of interesting things here. NWCA conversation may be as animated as I have heard Cael.

Interesting thing about the Ok St. dual - "Zain was sick, we wrestled him anyway."

Rather ironic as Okie State had a perfectly healthy wrestler and their staff instructed him "no to wrestle"....

Cael made excellent intelligent points regarding every issue that was raised regarding "National Duals" and the proper format (unlike the bull$hit hyperbole and demagoguery tactics and approach that J-Rob chose). Agree with Cael, that it is complete horse$hit to DEVALUE, to the point of making them worthless, the first 15 Duals that a team wrestles especially when many of them are against the other top teams for a team like PSU who wrestled VaTech, tO$U, scUM, Lehigh, UNL and Indiana - all of whom participated in the "National Duals" event this year.

Completely ridiculous IMHO to claim you need to wrestle an "advancement tournament" that would require 4 dual matches over in a single day or weekend to prove who is the best dual team when each team's regular season dual record should mean something -- the #1 Ranked, undefeated dual team should not have to wrestle a whole bunch of team's they've already beaten in the regular season to get to the finals....nor is it fair that all of these teams are given two-bites at the apple to win the "dual championship" while the #1 Ranked team is only given one-bite at the apple and must remain perfect to win the actual tournament? What sense is there in PSU scheduling VaTech and Lehigh or Iowa scheduling Okie State if there is going to be a big massive, grueling 4 duals in a day or weekend tournament where you have to wrestle them again at the end of the year? Agree with Cael that the B1G should split wrestling into East and West Divisions and the Divsion Champions should wrestle in advance of the National Duals. However, the National Duals should not require the #1 Seeded Conference Team to wrestle more than 1 Dual -- if you want to give the Top 5 Ranked Conference Champions a shot at the crown, fine, make 2nd Highest Ranked Conference Champ wrestle the 5th highest Conf. Champ, ditto the 3rd and 4th highest ranked Conf. Champs....the winners of those "wrestle in" duals can then wrestle to determine who gets to wrestle the Highest Ranked Conf Champ for the dual crown.
