Obtaining a Security Clearance is a rather detailed process;

Have you gone through the process (I did twice for a Secret level clearance) - were you denied or granted the clearance (I passed the requirements). If you went through the process did you find it fair, easy, intrusive?

Why would someone be denied a security clearance?

An agency might deny you a security clearance if you are dishonest on your application. Other reasons could include:
  • Application not filled out
  • Criminal behavior
  • Drug or alcohol abuse
  • Misuse of information technology
  • Rule violations at the agency
  • Unexplained wealth or financial debts
  • Involvement with foreign nationals
  • Unpaid bills
