There was a miracle on Sanibel Island. Of 6,000 residents only about 60 stayed for the hurricane. If you lived in Florida you would know that it is unusual to get almost 100% compliance with evacuation orders. Huge surges are often predicted but seldom occur so people ignore them. Any house built before about 25 years,ago would have been blown or more likely washed away. All must be built with cinder block, reinforced by rebar and filled with cement now
