PIAA pre-drawn brackets royally screwed the fans and wrestlers this year -- too many unbalanced brackets and finals matchups being wrestled too soon, especially in AAA.
Case in point: 138 quarters Pletcher vs. Sasso. WTF.
Penn State commits and wrestlers of interest:
- Devin Schnupp (113 AAA, SC1): Schnupp has a tough draw -- but this is a brutal weight all around. R1 vs. pigtail winner, then quarters vs. dangerous SE2 Jakob Campbell. If he wins that, semis likely vs. PA PFP #1 freshman Julian Chlebove (son of legend Whitey) or possibly Dalton Macri's brother Logan.
- Brian Friery (113 AA, NE3): R1 vs. NW2 Abe Guariello, then gets Gavin Teasdale.
- Teasdale basically has a walk to the finals, where he'll likely face NE1 Alan Diltz.
- 120 AAA-Spencer Lee.
- Mason Lindenmuth (126 AA, NW3): R1 vs. NE2 Brian Earlston. Lindenmuth has a favorable draw, should reach the semis, where he'll get 113 state champ Max Murin, who just beat defending state champ Jon Gabriel at regionals.
- Luke Gardner (145 AAA, NE2): R1 vs. NW2 Kyle Luben, then SE1 Bryce Reddington. Pretty good chance Gardner wins that to reach the semis vs. the winner of national #1 Cam Coy vs. Edmond Ruth.
