This may be a bit obscure for many, but I will tell you John Houseman was every bit the Harvard Law Professor (Kingsfield) he played on the short TV run of Paper Chase. He won an Oscar for his role in the 1973 movie of the same title.

He was damn good in both the movie and the TV show. Imminently believable as law professor and an obstinate one at that. I was just 8 years old when the movie came out, and his character affected me so much I decided right then and there that I would never be a lawyer. ;)

Brigadier General Ralph B. Lovett and Lieutenant Colonel Hallet D. Edson recommended Murphy for the Medal of Honor. Near Salzburg, Austria on 2 June 1945, Lieutenant General A.M. Murphy received every U.S. military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army for his World War II service.
