I watched my first full PSU game last Sat. vs JH. It was very exciting. Those 2 along with Maryland from the B10 are in the playoffs. The bracket looks like a typical NIT bb year. Great to see PSU in it and favored to win by many. They could end up with another rematch with JH. Check them out and root them on!

The nerds over at Lax Reference ran the tournament through their model.

Ament is a finalist for the Tewaaraton (Heisman for lacrosse). He is the first finalist for PSU.

Ament needs only 28 points to break the NCAA single-season record. He is averaging 7 PPG so if he hits those numbers and the team makes it to the championship game, there is a chance he can break it.

To win the Championship PSU will have to knock off some of the blue bloods of LAX.

A path could be:
UBMC, Syracuse,Yale and Duke or UVA in the finals.

We can do it, but anyone that wins will have to knock off some excellent teams.

Here is a more advanced breakout of what is expected to happen:

We have a pretty high clip to make it to championship weekend - obviously have to play the games but 60% is high.

Here is the statistical likelihood of winning it all:

However, since Yale and Penn State are in the same pigtail if Yale wins this weekend their chance of winning jumps to almost the same as ours.

Thank god for statistical models.

Yale has a dominant......truly dominant face off guy. Probably will win the equivalent of the Hodge award (Wrestling) for Lacrosse just due to his ability to gain the face off. Strong weapon.

If you are talking about the Tewaaraton Award, generally referred to as the Heisman of lacrosse, he's probably not going to win it. The two favorites are Pat Spencer of Loyola and our own Grant Ament, with TD Ierlan, Yale's faceoff guy, a bit behind in third. He's head and shoulders above all others at the face-off (and arguably the best ever), but a specialist has never won the Tewaaraton.
