OT: Holy hypocrite alert - Seth Meyers says hard to joke about Weinstein

But Meyers jokes about Sandusky's sexual assaults were funny and appropriate?? Gotcha.

I think I was pretty clear about my thoughts on jokes of this nature:

There are lots of subjects about which jokes are funny and appropriate. Sexual assault is a subject that does not fit into that category.

I didn't watch SNL back in 2011 & 12, and haven't watched the video that is in this thread. If Meyers joked about sexual assault on SNL, then his jokes were neither funny nor appropriate.

It will be interesting to see how people like Judd Apatow, Sarah Silverman, Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, etc, weigh in on Weinstein. My guess is that they will actually make jokes about the subject. If you saw the movie "Funny People" which was excellent, I think that provides a clue into the matter also.

Don't look now but Seth Rogen is now being accused of sexual assault.

It was a fake account set up by someone from 4chan. Yes, it was suspended but was proven to be fraudulent before suspension. There is no "Dana Jade".

Expect more of this in the near future.

To me, the important person to hear from on this, is now Sarah Silverman. Elite status in comedy, a pinup girl in her own right, a talented actress, and held in high regard in the Jewish Hollywood world also. She's also a champion of women's rights. If she condemns Weinstein, it means a whole lot.

As far as to what comics will say and do on this subject, I suggest everyone see the movie "Funny People" directed by Judd Apatow and starring Adam Sandler. There is a scene in that movie that perfectly describes how far comics go, in every day life, to make jokes about inappropriate matters. The scene I refer to has Maggie Siff playing a single woman, who is set up to meet Adam's character, at a bar, as a possible dating partner. The point Apatow is making, is that comics will make light of anything, without filter, and it will be an instant turnoff for anyone who isn't in their world.

Louis C.K. will be the next to fall - rumors about his penchant for undressing in front of females are well known....

He's being protected right now by the same silence that Harvey was. Jenn Kirkman went silent, and the only person speaking right now is Tig Nitaro, and Louis' buddies in the comedy world are firing character assassinations at her left and right.

"I don't think the tragedy ever ends. That's one of the challenges — trying to find a way to talk about it that is also comedy," Meyers said Tuesday night. "We, as a whole staff, had to process it. And it's very hard when you're talking about things like sexual assault to think, 'I have the perfect joke for this.'

Really,Seth? It is Weinstein's Hollywood status or Hebrew status that prevent this tough moral dilemma? He and his fellow NW alums were the worst in terms of jumping on Penn State during Sandusky scandal.

WTF DOES "Hebrew status" matter to this discussion? Don't be a moron.

What does religion have to do with this? Even if Myers was Jewish, which he isn’t, the fact that you attribute any significance to Weinstein’s “Hebrew status” is ignorant and really shows your true colors as an ignorant a$$hole.

And there you have it folks. You want to know why so many in Hollywood jumped on the false narrative against PSU/Paterno? Because it was cover for their own misdeeds. Just like many have said about Bernie, and just like I suspect most of our trolls on this board. They want your attention on JVP/PSU, not on them.

Weinstein is being charged w/ sexual assault, therefore anyone who has written, acted, directed, or produced films is guilty as well. Those that knew him, or even of him, are all enablers. We should burn the industry to the ground!

jeez, that is a shame. I love Tig. Her journey has been heart wrenching but inspirational.

I also notice Rhea Butcher and Cameron Esposito have been very vocal as well.

"Hebrew status?" Some code word there. Shame on you.

I believe Jen Kirkman was the first woman to discuss Louis CK's perversions . . .
She was indeed the first, and then she got scared and took all her twitter posts down, then went silent, and then denied. That is some SERIOUS power when you can literally silence someone. Jen became scared for her career.

I follow her on twitter. she was getting savaged by CK-heads on a daily basis

The other guy on the cusp of ruin is artist/fashion photographer Terry Richardson (whose mainstream and editorially edgy work I really like; his self-indulgent pornography, not so much...). The reports of his abuse of power and sexual harassment/manipulation of young, aspiring models is very disturbing but outside of his accusers, nearly everyone with any amount of power (Tom Ford, GQ Magazine, Vanity Fair Magazine, Anna Wintour/Vogue, etc.) has defended him. He's been pretty quiet lately since becoming a father, but still - dude has problems.

Sample of Terry's work:

this abuse pervades all industries, crosses all political lines. it relies on fear and power to silence the victims. it is pretty sick.

sadly, our tribal culture is more inclined to polarize the issue, rather than address the underlying causes
