Larry Johnson Jr. confirms via tweet that LJ Sr. is going to retire soon. Attn: Oweh and Ty Smith

I'm going to guess it's because the devil plays PSU every year and he's got an ax to grind. And he also knows how to recruit the northeast very well.

An ax to grind is something he shouldn't even begin to think about. He left PSU for the same position at OSU, "DL Coach" with a catchy little title "Assist HC." If LJ Sr. is bitter because he didn't get the HC position, he should think back and realize no one, not even Akron or Bowling Green, ever offered him that position because he is not HC material.

Joe brought him out of nowhere and provided a position for him at PSU, from which he has earned millions I bet when you factor in OSU!

He's not going after Joe. He's going after a University that didn't respect him or Joe. He has every right to want to beat us. Let's not pretend Joe did him a favor either.

It had nothing to do with respect. James Franklin was the better choice for the program. His mistake was not taking the illinois D coordinator job when he had the chance. OSU changed D coordinators multiple times since his arrival yet never offered it to LJ , but psu was supposed to make him the HC ?

I don't recall ever saying he should have been named the HC. Pretty much everyone hates how everything was handled by Penn State but LJ is wrong for it?!?!?

"The Lord moves in a mysterious way / His wonders to perform; / He plants His footsteps in the sea / And rides upon the storm.”

"Even the devil can quote scripture

I see your William Cowper and raise you William Shakespeare":

"The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.
An evil soul producing holy witness
Is like a villain with a smiling cheek,
A goodly apple rotten at the heart.
Oh, what a goodly outside falsehood hath!"

No one sad he was going after Joe, did they? LJ Sr. is just not HC material. PSU treated him very fairly; IIRC, he got an interview.

Dear D-bag, the majority of PSU fans wanted him to be named the PSU head coach! He LOVES PSU, and everything about it. You'd leave your company too if your superiors felt you weren't a good fit.

Maybe a large number believe he should have been the DC at one point, but not the HC.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Sure there were a few simpletons who thought that since he had coached at Penn State for so long, and he was a good recruiter and position coach, that he would automatically be a good choice for head coach. This was a minority opinion though. If he wanted to be head coach, then he should have become a D coordinator when he was a lot younger. He had little to no coordinator experience and he expected to be head coach?

Well stated Ranger. LJ is highly valued for what he does best, recruiting, position coaching and providing a great father figure to boys helping them to blossom into manhood. As a HC he would have been a fish out of water imo. He is a people person with high values and a faith filled life style. That is not incompatible with the HC position but you do need to build up to the HC job. It isn't a big jump with out holding a DC or OC position generally.

Is anyone surprised? The guy will be 66 next year and coaching is not an easy business. Urban is also demanding of his staff.

Okay, so now we have another freaking "keyboard coward" who thinks he has big balls with a personal attack for no reason. Just because "fans" think LJ should have been HC, you think he was qualified!!! He got an interview, which is so much more than any other program has done for him. He was never even considered as a HC by any other program, but, yet, you think he should have been HC at PSU because a "Majority of Fans" wanted him.

Well, Mr. Panty Ass, leaders have never been selected based on popularity only.

A moron fan like you would select a HC because he is "Popular." Go back and hide behind your keyboard. LJ will retire at the same position he has had for years, a D/L coach. Not even OSU felt he should be entrusted to be named their D/C, but, you and the "fans" feel he should be a HC!
