Over the years, though I'm sure there's an exception (can't remember it though), we've always eliminated a weight when this happens. Penn State has Haines in the line-up as the only listed wrestler, so imo that's what we go with. Keep it simple.

This may, if I'm reading the tea leaves right, be an unusual season, with wrestlers sitting more than usual, not always due to injury. Setting a precedent like this may have some unintended consequences with our fun little game, as I believe listed wrestlers won't go more than usual.

I think we went from what I'm trying to do with Haines for this match, to the "only guys who are listed" way. I'd have to go back through a bunch of threads to find examples, but I'm almost positive. That's why the verbiage in the first note at the bottom of the rules in Post 1 existed.

Maybe I added that after I took over, but there were instances where a wrestler got banged up in a Sunday match, or a weekend tournament, and the backup didn't make it into Match Notes, in which case a probable backup was listed for KYPSW.

We'll see how it goes, and maybe even remove the addendum, if it doesn't go well.

Edit: The reason I like to keep as many points as possible is to keep the point totals higher. That's why I even added the "two points for everyone for a unanimous pick" rule. It doesn't make a hill of beans worth of difference, but I love higher point totals.

Edit again: That addendum has been in place since at least 2017-18.

If I could weigh in on the current KYPSW controversy, I would point out that those of us who invested literally hundreds of hours in a dimly lit utility closet in the basement, hoping all the $$$ spent on subscriptions to FLO, Wrestlestat, Rokfin, MATSCOUTS and various other sites will give us the knowledge needed to one day say, "I was the on the podium for KYPSW". I know, I placed third last year and I can tell you, people look at you differently after you tell them that.

Back to 157. The problem is there are no posted alternative to Levi. It is difficult for us who have devote so much of our lives, in the hope we can one day where the KYPSW crown, to handicap all the possible match ups when Wrestlestat says Levi is our only '57 pounder. At years end, this single point could be the difference between triumph and soul crushing defeat. (See Iowa Wrestling, 2011-present)

Lastly, Philflyboy, I'm coming for you. I've put in the time in the off season. I've upgraded the Commadore 64 to handle the new AI technology I'm using this year. Allen is key to my understanding of the role practice plays in an athlete's performance. I shouldn't be talking about this. Sorry
