The Bond theme song thread brought back memories of seeing Dr. No; I was 12 and had not seen any movie like that before.

But the biggest reaction I had to a movie at that age was West Side Story. I had walked downtown alone on a Saturday afternoon to the Rahway Theater to see it, and I recall after the movie, I snapped my fingers all the way home. The characters in that movie were definitely "cool"! I can still hear it,......"Boy...Boy...Crazy Boy....Keep Cool Boy!......"

One of the guys I hung out with as an early teen brought a projector along with two reels of porn.Well word got out and it was go to Bruce’s house lol.Long story short Dad pulls up the driveway and people streaming out of the basement and first floor back door. .Amid this chaos I realize the projector was still on.
Dad was delayed by a neighbor and that gave me time to hide the smut.
Anyway that whole episode left a lasting impression on me.
Some of the guys picked up a Wiffle ball and bat in the yard and acted like we were having a game.Dad says”That’s a lot of people playing wiffle ball”.

Jaws. Not the movie though, the book, which I read prior to seeing the film. Peter Benchley's depiction of the buildup to, and private encounter (not in the movie) between Hooper and Ellen Brody was, well, check out the book...

I always associate "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin with the little movie montage before my dad's Bravheart VHS would start. Reminds me of hanging at his old house in Penbrook.

Pretty sure I saw my first hint of boob watching Top Gun on VHS when I was 8, so that always holds a special place in my heart.

Basic Instinct came out when I was in 6th grade and that was the Holy Grail amongst my friends for some time.

Saw my first 3D movie, Jaws 3D, at the age of 12. It freaked me out throughout.

I knew I was in trouble even during the previews for other movies… thought I might crap my pants from things flying at me.

Something I’m trying to figure out though… it made such an impression that I even remember the movies in the trailers: Metalstorm - The Destruction of Jared-Syn, and Friday the 13th Part III. A Google search indicates though that Friday the 13 Part III came out in 1982, a year prior to Jaws 3-D. So the timing doesn’t align with my memories… unless they were planning a limited re-release of Friday the 13th to piggyback off of Jaws?

One of the most memorable for me was Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, when I was about 12 or 13. I still can enjoy it even today.

Saw The Sound of Music when I was about 8. This is like 1964 or 65, when it first came out.
Went to a big theater in suburban Harrisburg with my parents on a Sunday afternoon. Just about every male in the theater, including my Dad and me, was in a suit and tie. Women in dresses. A Sunday afternoon family theater movie was an event. But how crazy to actually wear your Sunday best to a movie!?

Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein with Boris Karloff were the first movies that scared the crap out of me.

The Exorcist...holy shit! Scared the hell out of me...
I was already a married man when that came out. My Wife and Mom wanted no part of seeing it, so me and my Dad went. We were both freaked out by it. When we got back to the house, we didn't know how to explain it to them.
