Penn State today announced the appointment of Joe Foley as Senior Associate Athletic Director (apparently Super Duper Associate Athletic Director was taken) for Advancement. A former collegiate student-athlete, Foley brings a demonstrated record of major gift and annual giving success to the Nittany Lions.

At Penn State, Foley will play a critical role in Intercollegiate Athletics’ leadership, with a broad range of strategic and management responsibilities. He is charged with directing all aspects of fundraising and student-athlete alumni relations for Penn State Athletics, providing the vision and direction for all ICA advancement efforts. Foley will oversee major gift fundraising and the Nittany Lion Club, which secures annual support from more than 22,000 donors each year, and is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the nation.

Foley is joining the Nittany Lions’ staff after serving at the University of Maryland as Deputy Athletic Director for Development the past two years. Foley will begin his duties at Penn State on October 3.

“We are thrilled to have Joe joining the Penn State family,” said Sandy Barbour, Penn State Director of Athletics. “Joe has a demonstrated record of building relationships and strategically identifying resources that will assist in creating conditions for success for our student-athletes. He will be a great fit for Penn State and our community.”

Too few.

Does Mark Wharton now work for Foley, or is Wharton gone?

BTW, I think PSU should start using the Sr. Associate to the Jr. Associate of the Associate AD Title, it would be far less confusing and easier to keep track of....

I'm still holding out for Associte Athletic Director (AAD) in charge of all AAD parking. Of course, I would require an Assistant Associate Athletic Director (AAAD) who would actually do the work.

So here's the guy who'll be responsible for paying for Screwface's Edifice Complex. Good luck, meat.

Sandy is running out of generic job titles which sound important. Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement? The advancement of what exactly? SAAD for A. It's SAAD Alright. Senior Associate or Senior Assistant? What the hell is the difference? Junior Associate or Junior Assistant? If they don't exist now they will soon.

Click the link for the athletics directory. Associate AD for this. Assistant AD for that. It's nice to see my NLC contribution is helping so may people pay their rent.

At this rate Beaver Stadium will definitely need to be renovated simply to create enough office space for all those people.

How about the Assistant Director Director, the ADD?

I got dizzy from reading that list.

Apparently the ICA being $20,000,000 in the red is largely due to Business Card Printing Expenses :)

Apparently the empty suit ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR in charge of begging (Mark Wharton) needs some help

Now we have a SENIOR Associate Athletic Director, who will - apparently - counsel Mr Wharton as to:

- The optimal begging position
- Proper groveling protocols
and
- "How to pretend you are both busy and vital in a bureaucracy neck-deep in overpaid duplicative paper-clip-counting positions"

One must wonder though, with Tsunami's extensive personal experience and achievements as a "paper-clip-counter".......why she didn't feel capable of providing Mr Wharton with the necessary mentoring

Maybe they are creating some "deliverable synergies"

Stupid, Egotistical, Pretentious, Ignorant, Self-Serving Bitch

And while she's drives the program off of the cliff, we can all cheer on Sandy Baby.......because, hey, she got us Stripper Poles and Snack Bars in the locker room

Laugh? Or, cry?

Mark will be in NJ on Oct 5th at which time I will be meeting with him. So in answer to your question yes he's still around. In the interim, I will be having lunch with one of his associates on Saturday in SC.

Mark works for Foley. Rumor has it that Sandy and Mark weren't getting along. She couldn't get rid of him, so she added a buffer, which ultimately demoted him.
It's informative posts like this that add "clarity" regarding an obviously F'd up Athletics Dept Admin.

She's currently at the volleyball match and hasn't stopped looking at her phone once.
Likely having another Twitter exchange with that random housewife in Michigan who bitched about our hockey team having "409" stickers on their helmets for a game last season. Apparently she and Sandy became fast friends.
