I know it was his relationship with the Dback coach that sealed his commitment but Helton's firing opens up a can of worms.

I doubt he chose USC based on Helton. Most likely chose USC due to DB coach Williams ... who just became the HC.

Yep they reached out to Gould. Trouble is they’re recruiting him to USC because Jimmy Franks is going to be the Trojans’ next coach.

They probably have never stopped. I seem to recall a certain wr that was set for UCLA that they kept recruiting….

Shoot, we are apparently still interested in that recruit that committed to Rutgers and tagged Franklin in his twitter post announcing it! I'm guessing if a player can help our team win in the future it will take quite a bit to permanently damage any burned bridges.
But yeah, probably doesn't matter until the new coach decides if that DB coach is retained.
