An Ohio State podcast (Buckeye Scoop with former Buck Kirk Barton) had a guest, Nevada Buck (another former tOSU player), who is reporting that the Big Ten Commissioner is coming after Harbaugh and the coordinators. Harbaugh's suspension should be announced tomorrow. Michigan is still trying to save the coordinators. Barton thinks both are done. Wishful Buckeye thinking or legit?

Balas per OSU board claims suspension for season but UM fighting it:

Michigan representatives spoke with the Big Ten (and others) for hours Sunday in search of a compromise on the conference’s stance that U-M be punished this year for alleged infractions. Here’s the latest …

As Michigan president Santa Ono indicated Saturday, U-M is asking only one thing — due process and letting the NCAA investigation into alleged illegal on-site scouting and sign stealing play out. Michigan analyst Connor Stalions, the alleged ringleader in the operation, resigned and issued a statement taking full and sole responsibility, but the conference still wants a suspension for head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Sources tell us the meeting Friday between commissioner Tony Petitti and his crew and some in the U-M administration started with Petitti asking Michigan to suspend Harbaugh indefinitely, not the two games reported elsewhere (“they were not prepared to accept two games anyway,” one source privy to the conversation noted). Big Ten sources tell us tonight that Fox Sports higher ups were involved, as well, and obviously interested with the result. They stopped short of calling them “mediators.”

Where it ended after hours of conversation — the same place it started. The Big Ten wasn’t willing to budge and wants Harbaugh suspended for the season (at least), and Michigan isn’t prepared to accept. U-M is prepared to take this to court if necessary and is preparing an injunction for later in the week if the conference tries to suspend Harbaugh for the year.

Michigan would also be hesitant to accept a two-game suspension. If it’s the compromise that allows Harbaugh to coach against Ohio State Nov. 25, however, it could be on the table (“50-50’” one involved told us). But Ono and the administration are currently prepared to fight to allow Harbaugh to coach out the season.

U-M is confident they would be able to get the injunction if it came to that.

Well, if "Nevada Buck" is reporting it, that's about as solid as it gets.

So what happens? BT suspends Jim and UM refuses so we have stop him from entering Beaver stadium..man, that would be pretty sweet..

Unfortunately UM has the edge and will sue the living daylights out of the conference and the commish based on due process. Nevada Buck be damned. Just read the release from the UM President. He all but threatens the conference if they do not allow for due process. Suspend coaches pending investigation… it will not happen with 2 of the top ten games of the year coming up and potentially the game of the decade in three weeks. Fox is doing the Motumbo index finger at the commish.

Due process where and for what? What are the conference rules and what irrefutable evidence does the conference have in their hands at this point in time. Maybe nothing and the conference commissioner folds. UM and has a long history of giving the finger to authority an walking away unscathed. The difference here may be that out of conference athletic departments are threatening law suits which would change everything.

Since the players obviously knew that sign stealing was occurring, both Michigan's starting lineup and their coaches should be immediately suspended.

It's logical but nothing has been proven. That's the issue here. We all know what likely happened but it's only that. The Big Ten was hoping Michigan would agree to something. They're not stupid and clearly won't. Any court action keeps Harbaugh on the sideline. Michigan is focused on winning at title this year knowing the NCAA won't do anything relevant. The NCAA must die.

Give them due process. Start the hearings tomorrow with decision on Wednesday.

It seems obvious that they were filming signs and attending opponent games, thus violating the rules. It also seems that the program used the information which was obviously obtained illegally for their advantage.

B1G will likely use threat of legal action by M to put this off while investigation is completed during the season, so Harbaugh likely keeps coaching. They want this to go away as quietly as possible. My guess is the conference will do what they can to cause an OSU win in the game.

Next season the advantage gained by sign stealing in the past is gone and they can slap them with minor violations then. Michigan will likely avoid any due process hearings by admitting to wrongdoing and falling on the sword.

The only punishment thats appropriate is a ban on post season play. No league should permit a champion with tainted victories.

Scenario, M plays a SEC team in natty. Can you imagine the publicity this would give the B1G AND NCAA. NOTHING POSITIVE FROM IT FOR SURE.

And firing a minion- and blaming him for trying to be upwardly mobile a la Sean Miller and Bruce Pearl in hoops. There is NO WAY IN HELL that they didn't know. To suggest otherwise is folly.

However- that is the way much of this stuff goes. 30 years ago I had a salesman who called on me whose wife had been in the U of Kansas Athletic Dept and then took a job at the NCAA investigating infractions. She was in charge of the now infamous Eric Manuel UK case where $25,000 came out of a box addressed to his father dropped at a Fed Ex facility.

What he told me then- and I'm sure is even more true now- is that plausible deniability is the whole plan. The top of the power pyramid has to be able to honestly say things like "I never instructed any staffer to film other games." That is sorta like one former President who infamously said "I never had sex with that woman," or another that claims he didn't have a relationship with a porn star but just happened to give her $300,000.

Proving the actual physical intimacy is almost impossible in those above cases. Common sense leads to truth. UM is likely sorry for this situation- mostly because they got caught. I'm a high school teacher- every day I hear the "well I'm not the only one" excuse for breaking some sort of rule. Within any credible system- those defenses fail.

The question is: Is the B1G and NCAA credible?

I bet that UM skates for the rest of the year and likely gets a punishment that is not close to just. Hairball bails to the NFL to cover his own butt and the current staff is not retained by whomever takes over. This could lead to a Rich Rod era for UM- with the ceiling being what they have pretty much always been: a super talented team with an underachieving record.

How did they get over that hump the past few years? Connor Scallions arrival, the record of him buying tickets and taping B1G opponents games, seem to align perfectly.

Hail to the Victors Valiant: The Leaders and the Best! ??????????????????

If scUM proclaims Saloons acted alone and demands due process, but then "admits wrongdoing" as soon as the season is over, then the scum 2023 season should be retroactively cancelled and death penalty implemented for covering up known and obvious major NCAA competition infractions.

This is a real mess for the NCAA and the CFP if scum is in the playoff. It's obvious they cheated and if scum admits wrongdoing after the fact, the playoff is tainted, unless scum gets boatraced again in the semi.
Let's see if the referines are in happy valley this week or if calls magically seem to begin going against TTUN.

Word of caution here. Ken Stickney ( NevadaBuck) is NOT a former player. He's a hanger on who is pretty much despised by OSU fans as is Barton. That site went through major legal issues last year when Barton was accused of using money from the site for hisn own personal use and other issues. There was a huge schism between the founders of the site. They claim to be "insiders" but lost all access to the team and facilities after attempting to pay an injured player for info several years ago. Most of the "info" they post is either stuff they just get from other people or just flat out make up.

Unfortunately, the playbook is very clear on this because journalism and social media become crux on whether accountability is held. Deny, ride out the media storm, use "internal investigation" rhetoric, do nothing, simmer heat down, media finds a shiny new object, Harbaugh/Petitti/Ono eventually makes statement that Stalion acted alone, CMU never says a thing and Michigan goes to CFP.

Plausible deniability no longer protects head coaches courtesy of rule changes. The Pat Fitzgerald decision was due in part to this I believe.

If this had happened before 2021 Michigan would have already fired harbaugh, the entire admin is pushing all their chips in to try and secure a natty this year before the house of cards crumbles. They honestly have nothing to lose with this approach except some integrity, which doesn’t seem to be something they value.

Well, if "Nevada Buck" is reporting it, that's about as solid as it gets.
Darnit, the Youtube algorithm really let me down. I watched a few enemy videos during the week leading up to our game, so this video about a suspension for Harbaugh showed up in my feed. Not sure where I got the idea that Nevada Buck was a former player. Probably misread something referring to Kirk Barton. I guess he is infamous in the tOSU circles. Sounds like a crackpot.

I didn't realize Barton was infamous, either. He sounds convincing, but then I guess he's a car salesman, so he's probably well-practiced at confidently delivering information that may not be accurate whether he knows it or not.

The reason Barton lost his insider status is not apparently due to his alleged embezzling funds from the other Buckeye Scoop owners - it's because he was apparently taping and diagramming Ohio State plays for insiders. I wonder if Connor Stalions was a subscriber?

Can't make this up

The proof seems like the easy part. There is video footage for all of the games. The people stealing the signs are sitting right behind the team bench. There are fans all around the people stealing the signals that probably also have photos of the people sitting in the seats. When people come to Penn State games and sit next to season ticket holders, people take notice.

There is also a money trail (electronic or checks) from within the Michigan program for at least 35 games for tickets to the games, payment for services, etc.

The only question is what is the level of penalties that need to be addressed. Does it include past games, future games, suspension, fines, etc.
when was the financial evidence located that they were paid for by Michigan?
I think the proof is out there--just don't know if they have it all yet.
I don't believe Michigan will agree to any penalties so it's going to be interesting.

At least one person has come forward and indicated he was paid by someone affiliated with the Michigan program to videotape the signals.

And then they have to prove it. An allegation isn't proof. That's where this gets tricky.
I don't think Michigan is innocent here. Just dealing with the reality.

If there is someone in the stands that indicates they were paid, they can show that payment occurred. And video and/or shows that they were videotaping, that's pretty much all you need. Don't forget they would have also sent the video to someone within the program. Thus, there is probably some form of electronic transmission between parties.

Many of us realize you're a Michigan fan, so you're in denial. But, those are the facts.

OSU fan here

If Nevada Buck told me that the sun is going to rise in the east tomorrow, I will be on my lawn tomorrow morning looking at the western sky for the sun to come up.

We can throw a monkey wrench into their whole plan by beating them this weekend.

I'm not a Michigan fan--I literally don't care what happens to Michigan. Pretending I'm a Michigan fan because I'm not just screaming to sanction them without an investigation or don't pretend we're better than them is insane.
You keep talking about them being in stands indicates they were paid. Michigan can pitch that they went on their own--should we believe that? no but they can say that.
You're simplifying things that involve a ton of legalities. That's the issue. It's not as simple as you want or that it should be.
I've also said Harbaugh should be suspended with pay immediately which no Michigan fan would say but stay stupid.
If it was as simple as you believe it would be done by now.
