FC: Former PSU recruit/player Joe Hampton on Last Chance U

Joe is having a nice season this year at Long Beach State.

Man, last chance is right. He was committed to us, then de committed, then I think some things didn’t go like he thought and he recommitted. Then he transferred out west without ever playing for us, I saw him on a team for a year there and then suddenly he wasn’t on their roster anymore either.

Hope he figures things out.

Joe's scoring 10.8 points/game with 4.3 rebounds/game and leading Long Beach in blocks. He's playing for former Minnesota (and Gonzaga) coach Dan Monson, although Monson's days may be numbered in Long Beach.

He was close to being a 4 star recruit and I remember thinking he and Watkins would actually give PSU a formidable front court, at least on paper. Too bad it never materialized.

Unfortunately, Joe Hampton suffered what's said to be a "significant" knee injury less than two minutes into today's game, in which Long Beach lost to UC Santa Barbara to end their season. Hoping for the best for him.
