It wasn't just spygate - the taping and interpretation of other teams' signs. The Pats may or may not have taped the Rams super bowl walk through in '02. It's pretty well established that Bill sent guys into opposing teams' locker rooms to steal play sheets... and coach-to-QB headset communication routinely gets disrupted in Foxboro.

Deflategate was probably a "make-up call" and IMO, that was a misdemeanor compared to these other felonies.

Some good reads on the subject...

So, what sort of cheating aided the Pats' S.B. run this year? Maybe none. Maybe something more creative. We may never know...but the taint will always be there, long after Belichick finally retires (probably after winning 6 more SB's).

Am I bitter? No question.

Man those grapes are sour.

He's the greatest coach ever, Brady is the greatest QB ever and the Pats have the greatest dynasty ever. Quite frankly, it's not even close. Just respect it, they didn't cheat 6 times and go to 9 Super Bowls cheating.

And my team, the super Steelers of the 70’s, that won 4 Super Bowls, ushered in the steroid era.

When the Yankees went to 5 World Series in 6 years in the late 90’s - early 2000’s, did Red Sox nation embrace and appreciate NY’s greatnesss? Just asking

Patriots got around the first time because the idiot commissioner was just starting then and very close to Kraft. Owners believed that Goodell was making all the money for the owners but it just became due to all NEW people playing NFL fantasy games. He doesn't haven't a clue in any problems since he was there and not getting anywhere.

As a passive observer it is fairly obvious to me that the Pats have developed a method to predict the opposing teams play calls. Whether that prediction is during the signal point or once the team is set, not sure.

Now that said, the Eagles offset this by having a completely unpredictable play call model.

The Rams apparently didn't do this.

My favorite part in all this NFL controversy with the Pats is how the commissioner plays the role of the heel when in fact he is in the owner's (and all owners) back pocket. It is truly brilliant. Everybody boos him like they booed the Iron Sheik. He plays that role to make the owners seem like the good guys.

I'm a long suffering Jets fan and I'm not the least bit bitter.

Can anyone who says Belechick isn't a cheater explain why he willingly and without protest or appeal paid a $500,000 fine for Spygate?

Because if it's me, I'm not parting with that much money or allowing a hit to my reputation like that- unless I'm guilty, that is.

Being the fan of a school that paid millions of dollars to people in the Sandusky mess who had zero connection to Penn State, surely you must realize there are many reasons other than being guilty which would cause someone to make a payment like this. Now maybe Belichick was guilty, who knows. But the payment alone isn't proof that he is.

The only reason I could ever see was that somebody was protecting somebody.

Under Belichick the Patriot’s cheated in the past, and the two times they were caught they accepted punishment from the NFL. It will always be a part of their history and will always be a black cloud hanging over their dynasty. And let’s face it, if Belichick was willing to illegally film other teams’ practices and underinflate footballs to gain a competitive advantage, then he’s done a hell of a lot more that went undetected. Once a cheat, always a cheat.

He didn’t film practices. He filmed a guy standing 35 yards across the field from him in broad daylight.

Underinflate footballs? Competitive advantage?? Yinz be funny

Belichick is a cheat. Robert Kraft knows it. And the Patriots are forever tainted, and rightly so. And I don’t even like the NFL that much. Watch maybe several games a year. (I have never cared for pro-football.)
