The eclipse has a culture problemPray for the eclipse.
the moonOkay, I'm sure one of you more scientific types can explain:
the path of the sun goes east to west for us, with later sunsets on the West Coast, etc.
But for the eclipse, it begins on the West Coast (Oregon has some 100% areas) and then travels mostly East (and South)...why is that?

There's "a" moon up in the sky. It's called "the" moon.the moon
When the sun goes, say left to right, what direction does your shadow travel?Okay, I'm sure one of you more scientific types can explain:

Get Governor Christie to stand in front of you.We will only get about 73% obstruction here in New Jersey. You would think with what we pay in taxes that we could get better than that.
I flew my Lear Jet up to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun.........but it wasn't so great only about 60% black out.......
Yes, 80 some % in MI - if I didn't know there was an eclipse I wouldn't have even noticed. My son did take a cool picture though.I read that totality is 1000x darker than 95%. So the 80% we have in Philly makes it look like a cloudy day...which in fact is what we have.
LOL...used to play with an old time and remember being totally still after teeing off so we could hear the ball land and walk in that direction. He was unbelievable at finding those damn balls at 8:30 on a July night. Like he was some kind of clairvoyant that could track golf balls by the smell. I once bought him a dozen glow in the dark balls but they lost their light in, like, ten minutes.Nashville, perfectly clear......100% blockage.......really cool.
At total blockage it was like the view when you are going to try and play the 16th hole you can see but not real well.......and then you think that you have no chance on 17 and 18 and then you quit after your bad drive on 16 and go to the bar for a drink.
Your post made me think about that guy in New Jersey with the window air conditioner who bragged about part ownership of a plane. What was his name?I flew my Lear Jet up to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun.........but it wasn't so great only about 60% black out.......

Yep. One of the most impressive realizations from this is how bright and hot the Sun is even when it's more that 90% covered and there are clouds around.I read that totality is 1000x darker than 95%. So the 80% we have in Philly makes it look like a cloudy day...which in fact is what we have.
