Does anyone remember when WE returned punts for TDs?

I just looked it up....
Last punt return was in '08 vs Wisc.
Last KO return was in '11 vs ISU
WOW!!!!
It's been way, way, way too long!!!!!

For whatever reason, some of our fans now believe that you need to choose between someone who might run back a punt for a big return, but fumbles alot, and someone who cannot run back a punt at all, but will catch it all the time. The two are not mutually exclusive. Pettis is great and it doesn't mean he fumbles alot.

Last punt return that immediately came to mind was Williams in the 2007 white-out against ND.

Well, our man is DeAndre Thompkins, who has much wisdom from his experience on the job from a few years ago, and he might just be time tested enough to now be able to break out his big play ability.

Should have played the damn lottery today.

I don't understand it at all. The only thing that matters is catching the punt. It's not as if a punt return for a touchdown can turn a game or anything, and anyone you put back there with talent, will fumble the ball. Nothing about that made any sense today.
