Districts start tommorow.
Seedings just came out and flaw in the system just caused a major disservice at 106. They seeded Nazareth Charlie Bunting, number 1 which was well deserved.
The problem is, the committe uses a point system from this year (Wins, pins , ect) and prior Varsity years. However BECA FreshmanTyler Kasak was hurt all year and only started to wrestle 2 weeks ago. He knocked off the #1+3 ranked kids in the State in team duals.
One guess what seed Kasak got. Yes the 16th seed .
First round will be the 2 best kids in area.
Loser will have to win 4 bouts to advance.

Bad seeding is unfair enough on the front side, but it is brutal on the back side for kids trying to fight back. This sucks.

Presuming they finish 1st and 3rd, they'd likely be grouped together at NE Regionals too, right?

EDIT: I looked up last year's regionals brackets 11-4 and 11-5 were consistently paired with 11-1.

Qualify and you are in. Reeling off 4 straight wins in the consi bracket is no small task but if you are podium material the district consi’s won’t be a problem for either. Tough pull though for other kids just hoping to advance.

16th seed Kasak defeated No1 seed Bunting 11-5 in first round.
As noted above it reflected District 11 seeding procedure.
Sammy Sasso freshman brother Sonny who was hurt during the season wasgiven a 19th seed?? and knocked off the 3rd seed at 195.
Nazareth put 10 in semis even without Bunting getting the bad draw

Exactly. Bunting now in the same side of consy bracket with Connor Werner and Carson Wagner, so only one will advance.

Any of the 3 above would probably cruise through the other half of the consy bracket (to the consy semis - which is where you need to get to to advance).

I'm watching AAA finals on TV. I had my gallbladder taken out Wednesday and was not up to sitting in gym.
I'm watching Drew Clearie from Nazareth going for gold at 182. Last year he came in 6th in State at 132. 50 pound jump in 1 year.
Just decked his opponent.

Sasso brother was up 4-2 with cradle locked up with Quick on his back probably for 30 seconds (8-2). He got sloppy and kid came out and pinned Sasso third period

El-Jefe commented earlier in the week about Nebraska landing District 11 talent.
Both Manning and Snyder are in the gym.
They already got 2 kids from area.
Pinto (Stroudsburg Junior)
Condomitti (Northampton Junior)

Freshman 106 Tyler Kasak (BECA) is an absolute hammer from top. Very aggressive on feet looking for feet to back move. Likes to work off Russian Tie.

Last match was 145
#1 Sr Cole Handlovic BECA - Cornell
#2 Jr.Jagger Condommitti Northampton - Nebraska.
Not a lot of action, Cole lead 3-1 with 30 seconds left when he gets reversed. Comes close with escape. Goes OT. Jagger hits double to win it.

If you see Condomitti’s father, tell him to go **** himself

McClenahan beats Gibson on a last second TD in the AA SW Regional. This weight will be wide open in Hershey. Not sure how seeding will go but could see Bassett and Gibson in the quarters.
Bassett lost to Nate Higley from Sullivan County 8-4 at D4s today. An upset but not a giant one, Higley is undefeated, returning regional champ and state placer.

Damn. Anyone else want to jump to the front of the line? 126 is also looking tough with Crookham, Arrington and Haines.

Bunting hurt his hand in match against Kasak. Did not wrestle in consis

with Sammy in the house, the look on Sammy’s face was priceless when Sonny got stuck

After Regional quarterfinals Friday Nazareth has all 10 in Semis and BECA has 9 in semis.
I believe I read BECA has won regionals 10 consecutive years between AA and AAA.

As noted above, keep an eye out for 106 Freshman Tyler Kasak. He's stronger than anyone at his weight. He wrestled a total of 53 seconds yesterday. 41 in 1st round and 12 in quarterfinals.

Just curious with some inside info. Will Penn State coaching be present at some regionals today.
As stated , Nebraska staff was at District 11 last week.

Willie can go there for Crookham. The coaches can see Haines at M2 anytime.

Frees up the coaches to see other areas -- perhaps NY states this weekend, which involves a 125 prospect of interest.

Any chance that 125 pound prospect becomes a Lion? I have expected him to announce PSU for quite a while.

Nazareth with 6 in regional finals and BECA has 7.
Angel Garcia from Mariana Academy has had good tournament. He pinned Easton Falcone who is tough in semis. He gets Nebraska recruit Pinto from Stroudsburg in final.

Kasak pinned another kid. He should be on the radar.

He's only a sophomore, already with pretty good frame and benching 200+pounds
Probably 141-149 college kid.
