Commentator: "Joe Paterno 'lynched' over Sandusky silence, but not Weinstein friends"

Anyone who is afraid of having their life destroyed by being called "pedophile enablers", that's who.

The BOT's behavior is despicable (especially for "corporate leaders"), but understandable.

Yup. And that's what I said in an earlier post in this thread. I will always believe that the reason the narrative was driven the way it was, is because some very powerful and very wealthy people did not want the JS stink-bomb coming back and jeopardizing them. They did not want to media coming around with mics shoved in their faces and asking them what and when they knew about JS. So to avoid those situations at all costs, they decided to throw the 86 year old guy under the bus.

Exactly correct. And we continue to accept and vote for these leaders.

We deserve the leaders we get.

I like that Plante is trying to make the analogy, but believe he is incorrect for a couple reasons:

1. Like others mentioned above. Joe DID report it. If Plante had taken 2 seconds to research the court documents (those testimonies done under OATH... not the BS stories in the Freeh Report that had no subpoena power). He would have seen that MM admitted under oath that Joe did have him report his story up to Schultz and Curly. I believe MM stated under oath that Joe set up a meeting for him with Curly and Schultz and then advised MM to tell them exactly what he told him. That is not exactly the same as keeping it quite and trying to hush it like these hollywood mimbos and bimbos.

2. It COULD be a "republican" thing, but I do not believe so, I think it was more about the self preservation of power & wealth. I believe there were some very powerful and very wealthy people involved who did not want JS coming back to them. You had wealthy business owners, political leaders, CEOs, leaders of industry .... and these people basically put the wheels in motion to mis-direct the simple minds of the morons in the media to focus on Paterno. They knew that if they offered up Paterno that he was a sensational angle that would generate ratings, magazine sales, and Internet clicks. Plus, it would take any attention away from them.
In fairness to Plante, he has made it clear in the past that Paterno DID do the right thing as far as he could tell in reporting MM's observation of Sandusky up the chain of command, which is exactly what the NCAA advised coaches to do in their final report. Think Plante was referring to the backlash that Paterno received, which WAS due to the perception that he didn't somehow do enough, which he then compares to most of Hollywood...

Sadly, not sure what difference it will make. Roman Polanski raped an underage girl and gets applauded by Hollywood every other year or so. The guy is a good director, but what difference does that make? Sandusky was a nifty DC, but wrong is wrong. Weinstein will still get his Lifetime Achievement Award someday when the dust settles.... :(

Liberalism forgives all.

Bill Clinton is a hero
Roman Polanski is celebrated
Gerry Studds was reelected 6 times after raping a Congressional page
Harvey Weinstein will be forgiven in about 2 years...you'll begin to slowly hear the rewriting of history, just as we did about Bill Clinton, and I think you're right - he'll be given a lifetime achievement award.

Meanwhile, Joe Paterno will forever remain a pariah in the eyes of these same hypocrites.

You mean "Liberalism makes excuses for their own".

By my eyes, Liberals do not exactly forgive non-libs. Heck, libs will not even go on Meghan Kelly's morning show on NBC because she used to work at Fox.

^^^ This ^^^

Especially since several of them knew JS personally and had close ties with TSM.

Yes. I did not state that very eloquently. Liberalism forgives all sins of Liberals b/c they are "on the right side of history," as they see it.

IMHO, Liberalism/Leftism is a disease that has caused more death and despair worldwide than any single cause. Liberalism always causes the exact opposite result of it's stated intention. Einstein supposedly said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." If you believe old Albert, then Liberals are by definition, insane, because Socialism/leftist policies have never once worked in the history of the world, yet we are told we must continue to try them.
