this game had all the makings of a disaster..
1) your 2 competent backs go down, one of them being arguably the best player on the team
2) you waste great team effort with a 100 yard ko return
3) you waste great team effort with a dropped punt
4) your starting safety's are both gone by the 2nd quarter..Golden plays a great game, and Apke holds his own
5) Godwin plays well, but obviously hobbled during the game
The coaches made adjustments and did just enough to keep Hack clean.. Hack plays a solid "B" game..
*if he hits those 2 throws it's over a lot earlier
*if Barkley stays healthy we drop 200 yards on them.
*one key point.. when your Kicker puts 3/4 balls in the endzone even the best kick cover teams (which we are not) get sloppy without "live reps"
*ol #29..every time the camera is on him it's a big play or a big mistake LOL..this kid should be a saavy vet by game 8.
*plenty of momentum swings, but the kids overcame 3 games worth of adversity in one game.
ONE MOVE.. I get Thompkins more involved in the passing game.. I think if you give him half the targets you give Hamilton he has the same amount of yards.
