    Tickets: For sale or Wanted

My significant other bailed on the trials. I have one ticket, section 106 row F. I paid 525 directly to Bryce Jordan Center, and you would be stuck sitting next to me. Would like to have a fellow lion to see the trials with. Let me know if interested at my handle at gmail.com

    Olympic Team Trials Tickets

They were way more expensive than the first time, which also included parking.

    Olympic Team Trials Tickets

I bought tickets from BJC as having tickets to the original trials. Seats are great, but were 500 each. This was not a mark up but from the BJC directly.

    Big 12 Championship Finals

KOT v Carr match was great. Didn't see anything that led me to think that Mesenbrink can't beat either one. Not saying he is favored, just that he is right with them.

    2024 B1Gs - Day 2

I was not discussing concussion protocols. I have discussed that in past, including the commonly used protocols, and those are in the hands of the medical people. I did comment that I didn't think they were handled correctly in some situations, but it had nothing to do with the coaches. I just...

    2024 B1Gs - Day 2

Just because they are cleared doesn't mean the coach is required to let them compete. If you think the docs don't come under pressure about clearing athletes you are mistaken. I believe that there was a big lawsuit at Penn State over docs being fired and replaced, based mostly on how athletes...

    2024 B1Gs - Day 2

I am not talking about concussion protocol. THat should follow the accepted protocol that I. have discussed in the past . I am talking about the process of deciding when athletes are cleared to compete following a musculoskeletal injury that is not a life or limb threatening condition. In...

    2024 B1Gs - Day 2

If you think the team physicians really have the last word you are kidding yourself. Their opinions are taken into consideration, and the various odds of further injury, etc are considered. They don't have the last word, even though they should.

Carter Starocci's injury - news, updates, and speculations

A dislocated knee is a catastrophic injury requiring immediate arteriogram and other emergent treatment. I have treated a few, and saw the follow up of an all army track athlete who lost his leg following a poorly diagnosed knee dislocation. A knee cap dislocation (patella) is a much less severe...

Match Thread Edinboro dual - Sun. Feb. 25 at 2 pm

Watched a few different views. Looked like LCL to me. His leg was trapped across the other wrestlers waist and leg bent sideways inward. Cannot totally rule out a meniscal tear from that angle, but likely not a PCL or ACL type injury. When Nolf got hurt, you could see the tibia translate...

Thon 2024 starts today at 6:00 PM!

I danced in 1977, first year for the four diamonds fund. One of four couples to take no breaks. Small enough that it was done at the HUB ballroom.

    Lee vs. Yianni, round, uh...

If you watch the video slowly, you can just see Yanni's head rebound off the mat just past Nick's hip. The standard on field test for concussion is the SCAT 6 test. This test takes about 10 minutes to do correctly, so it was obviously not done completely. There was likely one of the red flag...

Who is better has nothing to do with whether or not an athlete is concussed

    Lee vs. Yianni, round, uh...

I am a PSU grad and physician. The difficulty in evaluating concussions is that there is variability in onset and type of symptoms. The timing can be immediate or delayed. I can't, obviously, make a definitive diagnosis by watching a video. I can, however, see enough warning signs to feel...

    Lee vs. Yianni, round, uh...

Depends on how he functions. After what we saw, I would think that they should postpone the rest of the match and allow both a good concussion protocol exam as well as time to recover. These wrestle offs have been postponed for injury before. He will probably come out because everyone, including...

    Lee vs. Yianni, round, uh...

Irrespective of who is better, Yanni was disoriented and had difficulty returning to the center of the mat. You could see him having difficulty arising and was wobbly with the first step after arising. His reaction to Nick's attack was dramatically different from the beginning of the match to...

    Lee vs. Yianni, round, uh...

This is another example of giving lip service to concussion treatment in sports. The concussion eval was definitely sub standard from what was shown. Yannni was clearly not functioining normally. Unfortunately this is still what goes on , when the event takes priority over the health of the athlete.
