The NCAA has a "Hot Girl" problem

Just to spur conversation -- in my opinion the top women's college team would lose by a wide margin to a decent high school boy's team. Just my opinion. Women are much slower on the court and the biggest issue is that women can't jump.

Yep. Go watch a top womens college practice. The guys on the scout team are just average joes who played in HS and if not for the controlled aspect of practice they would dominate with no real issues.

Ive been enjoying watching some LPGA. Side note, they've been very quiet about Saudi investment. Back to LPGA, they are very, very precise. Like golf machines.

Years ago, when the WNBA started, I had the opportunity to play 3 on 3 with some of the Cleveland Rockers (they only lasted a couple of years). TBH, I suck at basketball. I have, maybe, the worst outside shot for someone who played a bit. I did play with several Cavs in pickup games and was able to hold my own on defense but offensively, I suck. Regardless, 3 guys approaching 40 simply hammered 3 pro basketball women. The lack of physical capability was stunning. The biggest was 6-3 and probably 165. At the time, I was 5-11 and 215. First, non of the three could stop my crossover dribble and then drive to the hoop. Second, I could back them down in the low post at will. The two guys I played with were much better than me, offensively, and simply stopped trying to score. I think we won 21-5 (first to 21, all buckets counted as one point). I think we could have shut them out, had we tried. They did have very good set shots but it took them forever to release the ball so you could play them a yard back and get up on them as they entered their shooting motion.

Regardless, I was shocked. I think they are more physical today but just don't have the strength and quickness.

Had a girl this year tell me her plan after school was to go to a large college where she could find someone to become a trophy wife. She was not exceptionally good looking (7 out of 10 tops) and was already the type of girl who came to school in expensive clothes and a $7 coffee each morning so it's only going to get worse.

Another one said that she wanted to get in to business because lots of bosses in those corporations will hire a pretty girl over a guy just so they can flirt with her every day.

This isn't really an apples to apples comparison. They're not getting scholarships "hired" because they're attractive. It's not the schools paying their more attractive athletes more, or giving them more playing time because of their looks. They're making money essentially through marketing and or modeling opportunities that generally come via social media, which the school has nothing to do with in theory.

It'd be like an attractive executive assistant who also has a million instagram followers or a popular onlyfans page and actually makes more money than her boss when you consider those income streams, which have nothing to do with the job she was hired for.

It'll be interesting what happens when/if a notable athlete ends up with something like an onlyfans and how that gets handled.

Women's basketball and women's sports in general are pretty boring but often have very good fundamentals. Women box out and do the little things that coaches teach. Men try to out-athlete each other and often that is far more entertaining even if not as fundamentally sound. I will say that women's volleyball is entertaining and I'm not just referring to the beach volleyball.

I like watching college softball because it’s a different game than men’s baseball. If they did that type of thing for more women’s sports and made the field/court more suited to women, it would be more exciting (like lowering the rims in women’s basketball).

Basically the same...college women's volleyball is an extremely high level of play and very competitive. Can't say I watch college tennis but women's tennis during Grand Slams has always been good. Often more competitive than the men. Nothing against Nadal Roger and Novak but they've made it pretty repetitive for the past decade.

Which makes sense though and is fair to create a comparable game. Not saying the women's teams can beat the men's but just that it compelling to watch. The pace of play is great as is the athletism.
