First, according to reports, the indictment of Alford does not name Matt Gaetz at all. Second, no criminal charges have been filed against Gaetz thus far, but a federal investigation of him IS pending, and there is no report that such investigation has been canceled or suspended.

We'll have to wait and see how the investigation of Gaetz culminates, but it is entirely possible that Gaetz could have engaged in sex trafficking even as Alford was making fraudulent promises about a presidential pardon in exchange for the payment of some cash (reportedly $25 million). Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
