In a similar vein, Greg Schiano actively recruited and offered a convicted juvenile sex offender and was forced to withdraw the offer just an hour before ESPN was about to report the story. I don't know what the back story is on Gilbert, if he was ever convicted of a crime but Schiano showed poor judgement in recruiting Reggie Dixon. Every situation is different but this is what happens when you take a chance on troubled kids or coaches with their own issues.

I still have no clue why Schiano thought it was a good idea to offer a scholarship to a registered sex offender who sexually assaulted his 14 year old step sister. They even admitted to knowing about the cases and still recruited the kid.
