2018 5-star DE Micah Parsons is set to announce his decision on Saturday.

Parsons is rated as the No. 3 sophomore recruit in America. Would be quite a building block for Penn State's Class of 2018.

If Franklin can't get this one, he needs to never mention "dominate the state" at any point again, ever.

Really? Three years from LOI and Franklin just had, HAD, to fire the OC, and you think this is critical? Really? If we get him fantastic, but otherwise come on...

Hope we get him and after apparently losing Hill and Nordin, it would be big, but

What does a 2018 commitment mean anyway?

That's 26/27 months for everyone to keep working him.

Franklin purports to dominate the region recruiting, and the #3 player in the nation is at Central Dauphin and about to commit; yes, I'd say that this one is critical for Franklin's own credibility. When was the last time a top 5 player in the nation was in Harrisburg? Ricky Watters?

Put the can down and go to bed. This would be great but not that important. It will be important in 2017 but not now.

Their was a kid from Jeanette who verballed to pitt as a sophomore to play basketball.

How did that play out.

You must be referring to the kid who is now tending bar in Jeannette instead of making $30,000,000 a year in the NFL as a defensive end if he would have listened to Joe Paterno. That kid?

That would also be 26/27 months for Parsons to help recruit other kids for 2018 and other classes.

It's not the end all and be all, or necessary for CJF to back up the dominate the state comment, but it would be HUGE.

Two thoughts. First, if in fact he announces a commitment on Saturday I will be surprised if it is anyone other than PSU. Second, I will be mildly surprised if he ever enrolls at PSU. Big time talent and nice kid. He just came back from a 5 game suspension and academics need some work. So he has a long way to go to be a Penn State man. But he is young so time is on his side.

What a dumb post. All of JF's recruiting success to this point, but this kid is the make or break guy? Honestly, how do some of you guys function in the world?

Parsons tweeted that he has already visited his Top 7 schools and none of them compare to his #1. He's a talented kid, has some work to do. You want to grip about a single recruit, worry about Jurkovec in that class. Looks like a superstar QB in the making.

In 11 games, Jurkovec has completed 164 of 246 pass attempts, good for a 66.7 percent completion rate. He's also thrown for 2,368 yards, which is more than any other quarterback in the WPIAL's AAAA division, while adding 20 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He's also proven that he can make plays with his feet, rushing for 1,172 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 119 carries, good for a 9.8 yard average.

Oh please! 3 years early??? Why would a kid make an announcement now and why would the readers ever put any credence in this! Let's focus on hoping the rest of our 2016 recruits stay in the fold and not what a 15 year old kid announces.

There is a reason Terry Smith was visiting him yesterday and not worrying about the great twitter pwitter riot of 2015 last night.

So we get 3 years of posts telling us that he's visiting other schools and is about to recommit.

Theres about 1 recruiting post per week on this so called recruiting board. You should be able to avoid it if you really need to

Ladies and Gentlemen,
My son is in the class of 2018. A sophomore in high school. Kids this age change their minds more often then they change their underwear. Good golly. It would be great if he picked PS. But, as several have posted, it's a long long way until he FAXES his LOI to the Lasch Building machine.

This is the post everyone should heed...please

OSU already has at least 10 verbals for next year's class. Do you think they're excited or anxious? There's no better way to lay the foundation for elite recruiting classes than building early momentum. If the chance to secure the #3 recruit in America doesn't get you excited about that, then nothing will. The 2017 and 2018 classes are about as rich as we've seen in these parts in a loooong time.

Fantastic news if it happens on Saturday. The young man will immediately have an extended family which should help immensely in his academic and athletic growth and maturity. Please at least act like you are thrilled and welcome him. We all know it is for 2018.......so what? We Are.....back!

Agree. This commitment would be good news, and good news has been a little scarce here lately.

Yeah, the standard disclaimer about it's not a done deal until the LOI is received.....But earlier commitments is a general trend (and in other sports like basketball and lacrosse also).

The kid sounds like a great talent and will help develop recruiting momentum.

Yeah, but I go to the premium board too. It's a cesspool over there sometimes. Actually, most of the time.

This would be a great kid for us to land. However, I'm not a fan of committing prior to your Sr. Year.

don't know about a bar tender, but the Cleveland Browns just signed a kid from Jeannette, and despite what some say, the Browns are still in the NFL. BTW there aint no DE in the NFL making $30 mil a year!!!

With Parsons and the TE from Camp Hill, there's an awful lot of very high end talent in Central PA in the class of 2018. These kids are in our backyard, and you need to lock up the high caliber kids in your own backyard.

Well, he's fresh off a visit to Ann Arbor for the OSU/UM game, so maybe we won't be burdened by the commitment of an ultra-elite 5-star player. Imagine the doom and gloom if Parsons actually picks Penn State over every other college in America on Saturday.

Did Joe get Ricky Watters?

PS. Who is dominating the region in recruiting? Pitt? Rutgers? UMd? PSU!!!
