Worst officated game ive seen

Perhaps this doesn't rate as the worst because PSU won anyway, but it was so bad I started taking notes (with time stamps) on all the bad calls. I have (after the fact) rated how bad they were from "Average Bad Call" to "Once a Game Max Bad Call" to "Almost Has to Be Cheating Bad Call". This are in chronological order.

1) Missed taunting call on Auburn where Auburn defender made a throat slashing gesture (sorry didn't get a time stamp for this; but it was 1Q I think). Average Bad Call
2) Wrong call of intentional grounding against Clifford 11:30 of 2Q. Once a Game Max Bad Call
3) Losing track of downs 11:00 of 2Q Almost has to be Cheating Bad Call
4) Missed taunting call against Clifford (he did a "shooting gun thing" which I'm pretty sure (like the throat slash) you aren't allow to do. He did it at the PSU sideline, not towards an AU player so I don't have a huge problem with that, but technically against the rules. Note: this is the only obvious call they missed that was in PSU's favor. Average Bad Call
5) Missed taunting on #21 of AU (standing over PSU player and talking after a tackle) Happened at 10 pm (sorry don't have game clock) Average Bad Call
6) Missed false start against AU on their 2nd TD. Left side of line moved. You can see Brooks trying to point it out to the refs. 5:52 3Q Average Bad Call
7) Terrible spot on fake punt. The whistle clearly didn't blow until after PJ made the line to gain. 2:57 3Q Made even worse by the fact that they didn't review it somehow. Once a Game Max Bad Call
8) Missed intentional grounding against Nix at 0:33 3Q. Once a Game Max Bad Call
9) Missed AU false start at 10:45 4Q. Would have negated a 16 yard pass completion and a 1st down. Average Bad Call
10) Bad late hit call on Smith 5:44 4Q Once a Game Max Bad Call

If anyone else wants to point out additional calls that went against Auburn please list them here. But I really didn't see any (there was one bad spot but review corrected it).
That is just amazingly bad for one game and AMAZINGLY one sided. I mean wow.

Your #9... I get that "missing a false start" is kinda meh and hard to consider it anything more than "average bad call" (going by your scale), but that RT was had progressed five yards backwards before the ball was snapped, no other motion or "chaos of war" to blame, and probably four different officials had clear views of it.. That was an insane missed call.

This is fair. I guess my point was that this sort of call is missed somewhat frequently. It was obvious and should not have been. I was trying to not to be overly harsh in my analysis, but you are correct that it was a terrible non-call.

Daughter is precious. That’s what it’s all about padna…

Just going off memory but...
--throat slashing gesture by AU used at least twice with no call.
--Actually called an off sides on a psu kickoff
--Missed two AU false starts, both no calls resulted in chunk pass plays
The Mustipher play with the bad spot
--the no call grounding on AU
--the grounding call on penn st
The 3 down possession
The touch 15 yard flag on smith

You didn't even mention the 2nd Down gift spot on one of Auburn's 3rd QTR scoring drives. Nix made a dump-pass to receiver who proceeds to move back and sideways before any defensive contact is made in an attempt to get around defender.... moves back at least 2 yards from where he caught it and is immediately dtopped by pursuit defense should be 3rd-&-3 or 4..... SEC homers mark it where he originally caught it within a yard of FD Mark.

JFC. I’ve never seen a winning team bitch and whine about officiating so much in my entire life. Were there terrible calls? Yes. Did most go against PSU? Yes. The entire game was filled with shitty calls, welcome to the SEC. The safety call was bull shit, as well as numerous holds on the OL. It is what it is, congrats, be better..
The safety non-call was clearly the correct call.

Please cite any other call you think went against Auburn. I counted 9 calls against PSU and 1 against Auburn.

And that right tackle was moving early on several plays.

Everybody needs to chill. Or at least knock it off with the over the top paranoia that they were out to get us. The grounding and the down were huge errors to be sure. The rest -including the non calls on the d and the targeting - were well within the realm of judgment.

btw, they really need to dispense with the automatic ejection for targeting. It’s ludicrous. If they want to keep it for flagrant, fine, but the auto is ridiculous.
Where is this paranoia? We are commenting on an inordinate number of rare officiating decisions which nearly all went to one team's advantage. It's not unreasonable to point this out...both Fowler and Herbstreit pointed out how unusual and rare at least 3 of those calls were. Mistakes on down and or distance almost never occur, to be sure the last time it happened was 32 years ago.

Touchdowns > FGs

We were scoring 6s.

They were kicking 3s.

A lot of the calls sucked and we were still better than them.

Let's get Lovett involved running the ball and let Lee get over his fumblitis.

We were offside on the kickoff - I saw #3 at a minimum in real time and uttered aloud about a flag should be coming.

The grounding calls on the other hand - pure BS. Won’t mention the down marker FU …
Agree - the off sides on the kickoff was pretty apparent.

All of that and more. They might as well get rid of the holding penalty since they refuse to call it.

I guess that explains why you're still here an not on the "bitch" fest about refs on YOUR board.

Just asking a serious question. If a player is ejected from a game is he required to leave the field? They showed the Auburn planer on the sidelines several times after ejection. I remember in years past seeing the player escorted off the field.
I think that might have changed. There have been a ton of targeting calls so far and I can't remember anyone leaving the field.
Brooks didn't against Wiscy and the safety didn't against Ball St.

You haven’t experienced anything close to what we’ve experienced since we joined the conference in 1993 and then everyone else piled on since 2011, so back the hell off.
I agree...which is why I actually didn't think this game was that far outside of our normal ref-screwage

I didn't get a good look at the Auburn targeting call in real time and they didn't show it on the scoreboard. I finally saw it on a game replay and have to say it was a pretty weak call. Also, the non-safety call was correct. But I guess if we can complain about officiating then Auburn fans can too.

The officiating was bad all around but to say the refs were out to get Penn State is simply paranoia. I get it though considering how we've been screwed by the Big Ten refs who are truly biased. The game showed there is bad officiating everywhere, even in the SEC which sees itself as some sort of college football promised land. Hell, SEC officials helped give a game to Memphis this weekend at the expense of Mississippi State.

We recovered. I’ll be ok. Thanks genius
We love to complain about officiating around here. Some of it is warranted, so we are a little gun shy. Great to see Red in the stadium Saturday BOL rest of season.

The issue is we always get screwed. This time we overcame it but often we don’t. Cost us an undefeated year in 2005. Cost us beating Ohio State which would have been miraculous at that time. We can’t always overcome it and need it to stop.
