Will Penn State Dominate in 2023?

Way too early--- but with RBY coming back next year, I DO see PSU winning another NCAA title! However, closer than you might think. In fact, I see the dual meet & BIG TEN tourney as toss ups with IOWA. In the dual, I see Spencer Lee, Woods, Murin & Kennedy being favored for Iowa and then toss up matches with Warner/ Dean & Kerkvilet/ Cassioppi. Bonus points from RBY, Starocci & Brooks hopefully deciding the match in Penn State' favor. (Of course-- this is based on HAINES & VAN NESS being the "real deal's" -- and Facundo somehow getting ALOT BETTER over the summer???
Spencer is an Iowa favorite, and maybe Woods but that perception may change by the time they wrestle. Other than that it is all PSU favorites with a few toss-ups.

Penn State will Dominate in 2023!

FIFY

A little change in sentence structure and punctuation and voila! All is right with the world again.

PSU in 22,23,24?

125 Howard, Howard, Howard
133 RBY, xxx, xxx
141 Bartlett, Bartlett, xxx
149 SVN, SVN, SVN
157 Haines, xxx, xxx
165 Facundo, Haines, Haines
174 CStar, Facundo, Facundo
184 Brooks, CStar, CStar
197 Dean, Brooks, xxx
285 Kerk, Kerk, xxx

Can Howard grow into 133 or will Davis be there? Will Steen be in the mix?
Assuming Haines, Facundo, CStar, Brooks move up a weight in two yrs. Can they?
Can Barr grow to 197 in three yrs?

What 23 targets can fill in like McGowan, Kasak, Mullen, etc?

Any 24 targets at this time?

I think we still have three years of Bartlett left. 2021 doesn’t count.

Willie posted a while ago his "2023 Projections" and had PSU at 122 without RBY. Add RBY at #1 with his scoring system and we're at 144. That being said, he had some good performances by the younglings.

Howard - 5th at 125
Bartlett - 2nd at 141
Van Ness - 6th at 149
Facundo - 5th at 165

None of those projections seem ridiculous all in all (except maybe Bartlett at 2nd) when you consider they were all blue chip recruits that Cael handpicked and they now all have extensive time in the room but they're all still unproven against top competition. But he also had Kerkvliet at 4th and Max Dean at 6th and nothing at 157 (I believe Levi can be an AA at 157 next year since the class is pretty open after Carr and maybe a healthy AOC)

The 1996-1997 Iowa Hawkeyes have the NCAA scoring record at 170 correct?

Here are those brackets:

118: Whitmer. 1st. Two bonus points (two MDs). 22 pts

126: Mena. 2nd. Two bonus points (two MDs). 18 pts.

134: Ironside. 1st. Three bonus pts (Fall, MD). 23 pts.

142: Gilliss. 6th. Six bonus pts (two falls, two MDs). 3 Adv pts. 15 pts.

150: McIlravy. 1st. Four bonus pts (two TF, MD). 24 pts.

158. Williams. 1st. Five and a half bonus pts (two falls, TF). 25.5 pts.

167: Uker. 5th. Four bonus pts (two falls). 3 Adv pts. 14 pts.

177: Ersland. R12. No bonus. 2 Adv pts. 2 pts.

190 Fullhart. 1st. Three bonus pts (Fall, MD). 23 pts.

275: Hand. R12. Two bonus pts (Fall). 1.5 Adv pts. 3.5 pts.

I’ve gone over this several times. Hand also received a MFFT. They must have not given bonus for that in 1997; the only way I get to 170 is excluding it. So I think that team scores 172 points in today’s scoring. Someone please correct me.

Hard to see that record going down. Five Champions, Six Finalists, Eight AAs and Two R12s. 31.5 bonus points. Ten scoring wrestlers.

They were still scoring it as a 64 man bracket. At least I believe so.

Can anyone project- Where does Kasak expect to be weight wise in college?

Lets use points per scholarship and I bet we top them.

Let's have some fun though
RoHo - 5th
RBY - 1st
Bartlett - 5th
SVN - 3rd
Haines - 5th
Facundo - 5th
Starocci - 1st
Brooks - 1st
Dean - 1st
Kerkvliet - 1st

153.5 before bonus.

None of those placements individually would shock anyone but getting everyone to do it on the same weekend is what's obviously challenging.
Pretty close but with bonus, McSorley, from a year ago… 25 and 74 didn’t pan out and 97 dropped. But 41 and 57 did better. It’s almost time for your picks for 2024? It’s crazy to think that only two guys are gone out of the lineup that won by 55 pts. It could be very embarrassing next year
