Why "Social Media" is great....

Dropped my oldest off at University Park this morning for freshman year. #WeAre

For those with Rokfin, can any of you make sense of the ranking methodology used for the top NCAA wrestlers of the decade?

The Truth at 12 behind Amine? DT and Cenzo behind Myles Martin (maybe they are taking into account MyMar’s continued and unparalleled improvement?)

Seriously, I think they just added the aggregate total of NCAA finishes (Stieber 1,1,1,1=4). Tiebreaker being how many titles. Pretty lazy IMHO

These rankings are purely based on x amount of points per NCAA placement position. It's straight math and Joseph not getting his senior year NCAA is why. Amine got a 5th year so that "cheats" the system.

This guy's been doing it awhile, interesting to look at but just a rigid system of your NCAA placement added up across your career.

Just to note, even with the 5th year, Myles Amine doesn't crack the top 50 NCAA tournament scoring list. (Just misses with 77 points. Only having 8 total bonus points didn't help.)

That's just embarrassing . . .

1st=16; 2nd=12; 3rd=10, 4th=9, 5th=7; 6th=6; 7th=4; 8th=3. Since Amine went 4,3,3,3,2 = 51. The article is "Top Wrestlers in the Past Decade," so the author just ignores Ed placing 3rd and David placing 2nd in 2011 and only counts their last three years. Silly approach.

Author should have either included or excluded everyone partially inside the decade b/c by this methodology you're penalizing wrestlers who straddle decades--Ruth and Taylor wouldn't have even made a list for the previous decade using the identical methodology. I mean, it's his methodology, he can structure it however he likes, but its utility is greatly diminished if you're making a leaderboard that needs so many asterisks.

An approach that created the desired outcome.

They aren't counting Taylor or Ruth's first NCAA finals because it is outside the decade. What dumbness.

The author could improve it by putting wrestlers in the decade with most years wrestled. Better years would be my tiebreaker if same number of years in two decades. Just a thought.

Good Lord, it's worse than Wrestlestat.

Listening to some old podcasts during commutes and just finished one from 2017 -TRow and Funky. Right after we beat Iowa. Askren was asked if he favored Ok State or us. He picked the Cowboys in both a dual and NCAAs. The actual results - 27-13 PSU in dual and a 43 point spread at Nationals.

Don’t go changin’ Ben.

Was this before he head-butted Masvidal’s knee?
